Point is, SAS did go through a relatively easy journey that year.

Ewing was an horribly inefficient volume scorer at that point. His TS% that year, was what, around 47%? Pretty bad. He would have helped the Knicks defensively but it wouldn't have made much of a difference in the end.

I would say that D-Rob played a huge part in that '99 championship by the Spurs. Having Robinson on the team took a lot of pressure off Tim Duncan and helped to spread the floor for players like Sean Elloitt.They also had great role players as well. Malik Ros, Mario Ellie, Steve Kerr, Avery Johnson, and a few more players. Having players that understand their roles is a big plus as well.
