Anyone that thinks Wall is better than Irving is on bath salts.

Wall homers just need to stop. Westbrook and Rose actually have believable arguments.

Anyone who thinks Irving is a good facilitator needs to stop sniffing glue.

Agreed. With Wall, all you hear about is his potential. Irving is just a better player. There isn't a GM in the NBA that would take Wall over Kyrie.

Wall's a better facilitator and defender but I'd still take Kyrie

Wall did lead the league in fast break points last year. I agree with OP

As for the Wall and Kyrie debate:

Kyrie is a lot better shooter than Wall but that's it..... Wall is on another level defensively.... Wall changes the game with has pace and imo has a bigger influence in the game than Kyrie

they play very different styles-- both are effective
instead of arguing who is better, can't we just appreciate that the league has two very young point guards with otherworldly ability?

why does every thread always have to devolve into a compare/contrast argument?
how about: "this guy is really good. so is this guy. they are both really good."

and John Wall's shooting struggles got me thinking, why is it that extremely athletic/agile guards tend to be such poor shooters? Sure, there are exceptions like Westbrook, but for every Westbrook there are five Eric Bledsoes or John Walls or Rajon Rondos. weird.

D-Rose was another good example, until he put in a ton of work on his shot... hmm I might have just answered my own question...

this really doesnt mean much, but durings walls rookie vs soph game, he was absolutely amazing at making plays for teammates. particularly, cousins

and on the other hand, durings irvings rookie soph game, he was absolutely on fire from the field. particularly, from 3

Very different styles. Hard to argue Wall over Irving at the moment but we shouldn't judge point guards by their stats or their ability to shoot. At that position there are more important things to look at.

Wall has Nene, Okafor, Beal, Crawford, Ariza a good mixture of young talent and veterans, I can see why his assist number is higher simply because his team is better. That being said, Wall is for sure a better passer right now but he needs to work on his jumper hella bad. Might be the fastest player in the league right now rim to rim. I think Kyrie gets into the lane better though simply because he has unlimited moves to, Wall usually just does 1 crossover than uses his speed which doesn't always work.

Wall is a young Wade at the PG position.

It is also a collection of guys who can't shoot. They are winning now because of their defense. The only consistent 3 point shooter they have is Webster. He is the only guy shooting over 36% from 3. They are last in the league in offensive efficiency.

Okafor and Nene are shooting mid-30s on their jumpers. Ariza and Beal are shooting 39% from the field. Okafor and Nene are both sub 50%.

Last year they were 28th in offensive efficiency and 28th in 3 point shooting.

Wall is averaging 8 assists for his career playing on crap teams.

Half those players weren't on the team last year
