German engineering ftw

When comparing reliability people need to remember 1 thing. ALL cars are "reliable". If you baby them, drive them normal and do standard maintenance for the life of the car you will likely never have a major issue. That goes for Ford, Chevy, Audi, Hyundai or anything else.

The issue is some cars handle either abuse or lack of care MUCH better than others. My STI for example.... I drove it like a bat out of hell everywhere, beat the living shit out of it.. and not a single thing broke. My Dodge SRT4 though on the other hand...... was reliable when driven calm but once I started racing shit started falling apart. I actually took the SRT4 on a road trip across states and just drove like a granny and it did amazing.

Car and Driver: 2013 Audi S6 vs. 2013 BMW M5, 2012 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

this article has

1. Audi
2. Mercedes
3. BMW

HOWEVER, it gives Audi the #1 prize due to it's significantly cheaper price and acknowledges that it doesn't preform as well as the the other two.

so...all prices equal...Audi comes in last as far as these makes go, to C&D

older audis had alot of problems but the newer ones from around 2008 and on have been alot better and reliable. I put 36k miles on my 2011 and never had issues.

Yea.. when I'm talking about Audi, it's mainly older ones. I LOVE the RS5 V8 man. I remember one time I was driving my Subby... and one revved at me with that throaty V8 and it sounded like straight sex. Couldn't compare to my Subby Boxer rumble though.

yeah, this is true...or at least it should be

and due to the fact that the owners of all of the cars are likely the type to upkeep properly, "reliability" between these 3 cars should probably be seen as a 3-way tie...a wash

I just like the R8

that's the only Audi that makes me think..."I need one of those now"

see a decent amount of them in Dallas too

i would rate it:

performance: bmw, audi, mercedes

luxury: mercedes, audi, bmw

all around: audi, bmw, mercedes

also, used audis (at least as far as the a5 goes) holds it's value alot better. comparable bmws and benzes were at least $5-7k less than my a5 when I was shopping.

then they weren't "comparable"

the fair comparison would have been the better model Benz that is the same price...not the little C-class or whatever it was you were looking at

and those rankings you have need to be based on certain models, because Mercedes has ridiculous priced sports cars that will out preform any of them...and the Maybach that is high luxury than any of them...

There's the new RS6 that will blow away the M5 and E63.

S5
E-Class

3 Series

...though it isn't really fair to BMW to include the 3 series with those bigger cars. They aren't the same class.

I like the changes, although it took some getting used to. Everyone and their mom has stated to copy Audi's LED running lights so I guess a change was in order. I had test driven all the Mercedes, BMW's, Lexus, Infiniti's in this price range and I still think the A/S 5 is the sexiest car in it's class. I still get alot of second looks in my Audi, the BMW and Benz have become stale imo (and I see them everywhere, the audi is still a bit more unique)
.
I agree with all you said. I'm curious though does the S5 have those LED lights too? Is it on all versions of the S5 or just the top trim? Like you know that gliterry lighting on the headlights. I know a friend who had a 2012 Audi A6 and only in the top trim did they have the cool LED lights but not the bottom trim

I also think the pictures don't do the S5 justice. Agree?
