Default Re: Is MJ's '88 season the GOAT season?

I think that 88 season is as good and probably better than the 89 season...90 and up he took it up some notches.

I don't know which is his best season, but he was never a better player than he was in 1993.

1995/96 is close tho...and easily better than 97 Jordan, despite the supposed Jordanphile saying otherwise.

'97 Finals is superior than his '96 Finals, but his '96 playoffs were more impressive than his '97 playoffs.

I'd actually argue that his '95 playoffs he was playing better than both his '96 and '97 runs. He just didn't have the right legs and stamina to make a go of it due to the baseball physique and conditioning.

More assists, rebounds and higher shooting percentage against bigger, faster, stronger athletes.
Also you have to think about this, after you win an NBA title their are 29 teams that come out and play their damn hardest against you, for some teams playing the heat is their only big game of the year.

Maybe..

But I know one thing's for sure, he's right up there with Kobe's 2006 as candidate for GOAT season..

I don't think that makes it more efficient. It's very efficient, but not the most efficient.

It's also not close, really. Bigger, stronger, faster athletes is not really that accurate and that doesn't mean better players.

this is just an evidence that averaging triple double doesnt mean youre an impactful player. Oscar is an evidence. Thats why I dont believe that lebron will ever be as good in Jordan. I dont even think he could surpass kobe.

How does averaging a triple double even remotely relate to this thread, let alone provide "evidence" for anything?

LBJ wins 2nd ring. He will surpass Kobe for sure.

Kobe could NOT dominate.

LBJ 4 mvps to Kobe's 1 mvp
LBJ 2 FMVPs to Kobe's 2 FMVPs
LBJ 2 MVP sweeps to Kobe's 0 MVP sweeps.

If LBJ wins 4th MVP & 2nd FMVP, he has moved ahead of Kobe Bryant FOREVER!

Kobe has 17 yrs to show his single MVP. JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

The best EVER probably.

not because it was a triple double season.

It was a 30 PPG TRIPLE DOUBLE season!

thats just ridiculous for 6'5" guard.

Bird was like 6'9" & he couldn't come remotely close to it.

if kobe is discredited because of shaq and so is lebron. wade and bosh is better than shaq. so he needs to win at least 5 not 2 genius. And if lebron wins this year mvp without a ring. LOL he will surely beat oscar as the most overrated player. 4 mvps for .5 ring?! And isnt it ironic that they have the same playing style?

Kobe is DISCREDITED because Shaq DOMINATED the 3 Finals & wong 3 FMVPs.

If Bosh or Wade wins FMVP over LBJ, he will be DISCREDITED!

plain & simple.

right now its kobe with 2 FMVPs & LBJ with 1 FMVP.

By the end of the 2013 NBA Finals. It will be even but LBJ wins because of sheer DOMINATION of last 4 years.

Kobe never did that.
