So Kerry Rhodes is bisexual (unless you believe his denial) and the world did not end
Interesting. When do the pitchforks come out and the world stop spinning?
Told you. It's total "yawn". Yes, he's denying it, no - nobody believes him. And guess what, it's BORING as are all stories about who people are banging that are not you.

Major difference in denying it and admitting it. World wont stop spinning and it will be talk of the town for awhile then flare up when season rolls around. But nothing drastic. If it wasnt a big deal then why are gay athletes under cover? What are they fearing?

He is a free agent
wonder if this will keep him that way
and yeah some dude still in the closet while another accuses him of it doesn't at all count as an openly gay player...let me know when a starting QB comes out of the closet, Earth will fcking blow up

Why? People don't care unless it affects their play. If Aaron Rodgers is gay, Green Bay is going to jettison him for a straight, worse QB? No ****ing way. People only care about results. if Peyton Manning was revealed to be Satan he'd still start for Denver in game 1 this year.

don't make me pull up the Esera Tuaolo and Cris Carter quotes again...
there are many players in every locker room that absolutely 100% "care" about this...
if Rodgers was gay, he would keep his job for sure...he is arguably the best player in the NFL
if say, Jake Locker was gay?...might be different, perhaps a defender hits him a little harder during practice when he isn't supposed to hit the QB
Re: So Kerry Rhodes is bisexual (unless you believe his denial) and the world did not end
old Chris Collinsworth article written after Tuaolo came out
Quote:
The real crux of the matter is: Could an openly gay player make it in the NFL? Tuaolo admitted he didn't come out of the closet during his playing career because he lived in fear that he would be intentionally hurt -- by opposing players or even by his own teammates. NFL analyst and former All-Pro Sterling Sharpe said that Tuaolo would have been hurt before getting to an NFL game because his own teammates would have intentionally injured him during practice. I like to think that wouldn't happen. NFL players may not be the most enlightened group in America, but they are not cavemen either.

Once I talked to Tuaolo, it was tough to imagine a teammate intentionally trying to injure him. He is just a regular guy. As Cris Carter said, once you put a human face on the situation, it's hard to maintain those stereotypes. There is no doubt many on the team would try to run a gay player off, but I also believe the majority would support his right to be a member of the team.
I could be wrong, but make no mistake, we're going to have to face this. An active player eventually will admit that he is gay, and I shudder to think of the media frenzy that will ensue. It will be one of the biggest bombshells in sports history.
One of the reasons Tuaolo never admitted he was gay was because he feared for his job. A lot of teams, general managers and coaches wouldn't want the distraction, especially if the player involved is just marginal. For a player to come out of the closet, it would probably have to be a Pro Bowl-level player, and a very brave man.
