I liked it a lot. Technically it was well done and IMO portrayed the event as accurately as one could expect without actually being there. I didn't really need a melodrama exploring the actual characters since it was such a powerful event in itself.

1. The Departed / Borat ----- And I'm not one to just hand out ties.
2. Babel
3. Venus ----- Excellent film! Got great review on RT, well deserved.
4. Little Miss Sunshine
5. The Prestige

Didn't make the cut: Children of Men, Apocalypto, The Fountain, The Illusionist, Pursuit of Happyness, World Trade Center, V for Vendetta, A Scanner Darkly, Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny, and a bunch more.

Haven't seen: The Queen, Pan's Labyrinth, The Last King of Scotland, Dreamgirls, Volver, Man Push Cart, Thank You For Smoking, Science of Sleep, and a few other movies.

Dunno if it was crap, but by far the most overrated movie of the year.

2006 was an ass-kicking year for movies though. so much goodness.

The best is probably a toss-up between Letters From Iwo Jima and The Departed.

The Fountain was one of the most thought-provoking films I've seen in years.

Borat/Little Miss Sunshine are two of the better comedies to come out for a looong time.
