Default MJ and Kobe Team Alpha v.s. LeBron and Pippen Team Beta: Best of Seven

Given recent statements:

Team Alpha

C - Bill Cartwright
F - Anthony Mason
F - Kobe
G - MJ
G - BJ Armstrong

v.s.

Team Beta

C - Luc Longely
F - Pippen
F - LeBron
G - John Starks
G - Mario Chalmers

Who do you got, best of seven series?

Oh, pre 2005 rule set. Thus, hand checking and physicality. Ala what we saw in this year's All Star Game. Real defense.

Lebron's an alpha. 2011 is basically the only year where he was beta, the rest of his career he's been alpha.

OT but how many rings do you think those bulls teams win if you replace mj/pippen with kobe/lebron (kobe corresponding to mjs age and lebron to pippens) of the same age each year? MJ>Kobe but Lebron>Pippen. Would be interesting

has to be team Alpha. whats great is that they can put mason on pippen. as i recall, mason would lock scottie up and bully him. this way, either mj or kobe wouldnt have to exert as much energy on defense. same way with betas, starks would be on mj or kobe, and make it difficult for them to score but it doesnt mean whatsoever that he will lock either up. and i would take bj armstrong over luigi chalmers any day of the week.

It doesn't matter of it's Kobe / LeBron or Wade / LeBron. Bron is a passive guy who needs an elite half court scorer to win a ring, to cover up for his inadequacies.

Kobe has MJ's skills, foot work, jumper, volume scoring and man defense.

Wade has MJ's speed, quickness, attacking ability, FG efficiency and help defense.

Wade is a poor man's MJ from '85 - '89

Kobe is a poor man's MJ from '90 - '93, or in his prime a rich man's '96 - '98 MJ.
Wade was not elite last year. He was injured. He put up worse finals numbers than '95 drexler did. And Lebron was very effective in the half court in the finals. Is this another troll post? lol..

Edit:

Half court stats:

6th in the league as pnr ball handler
6th in isolation
3rd in spot ups
15th in post ups (this has been trending upwards recently he was at 0.82 ppp before feb iirc now he's at 0.94)
27th on cuts
51st off screen (only 39 attempts though so small sample)
he has success as a pnr roll man as well but the heat don't do this enough imo.

compared to kobe (who we all consider a good half court scorer):

21st at pnr ball handler
21st at isos
194th at spot ups
5th in post ups
10th off screens
91st in cuts

i was gonna post d-wade too but all you need to know is that wade is worse than lebron at all the categories except post-ups where he is 5th (tied with kobe).

With that money23 logic, MJ needs pippen to win and without him GG. Team beta wins it seems. I'm with alphawolf on the fact that this lebron would win in cleveland. LOL at wade being elite last year in the playoffs. He almost choked away game 2 n the finals by himself.

John Starks is not beta.

Aren't you guys getting tired of all these Alpha Beta threads. It makes the person bringing them up look like wannabes.

Lebron can score with the best of them, has completely taken over the team from a very capable D Wade, and has proven he can succeed with Mo Williams as his Scottie Pippen.

So as far as I know, calling him a beta is just a compliment to his amazing passing game, because he is one of the best alphas this league has ever seen. And by alpha i don't mean ball hogging gunner, I mean a good first option who can lead teams to success.

pauk, STFU and go back to your normal account.

MJ won in '96 - '98 as a 33, 34, and 35 year old with Pippen as a shell of himself offensively, putting up below average offensive numbers on putrid FG percentage shooting.

Who is taking final shots for team Beta? LeBron doesn't handle those situations well, and if Pippen doesn't get the final possession, he's pouting and will sit on the bench and not even be on the floor.

Ummm, yes he is. When was Starks ever Alpha? He was tough sure, but he wasn't a leader. Jesus, did you even watch the era of basketball you hype up so much?

You sound dumb as hell, no wonder you have a little red dick rep bar now. No one takes you seriously.

Wannabes of what? Make sense, man. English ... speak it.

RoundMoundofRebound aka possible another paul alternate. A Raptor fan who EXCLUSIVELY talks LeBron and seemingly nothing else, always rushing to his aid and getting butt hurt when criticism is raised of him.

LMAO @ Wade not being elite. Injured? Sure. Below usual numbers? Yes. But non elite players don't drop 40 POINTS in meaningful PLAYOFF GAMES.

Are you kidding me, right now? Yes, Bron is better ISO player in the playoffs last year as opposed to how he was in 2011 and in 2012 regular season. I still don't consider him as good of a half court, ISO caliber player as MJ or Kobe. Because he isn't.

He still can't drive left, still can't shoot off the dribble going right. And as I said this game would be played with ACTUAL defense. Meaning you can bump, and body / hand check. The same way Bron got exposed in the All Star Game.

In a more physical defensive league, and Bron's lack of a legit foot step, and without an abundance of screens to help free him up. He's not the same caliber of player, especially in half court and ISOs. Still an unstoppable freight train in open court, but significantly different in the half court. He'd have to change his game up to be more power forward - esque.

Thus, Bron went to Miami because of Wade. An elite half court scorer who is clutch. Covering up his own personal inadequacies.

Why don't you replace some of the scrubs of both teams with stars and revise the teams to look like.

Team Alpha (shoot first):

C: Shaq
PF: Z Bo
SF: Kobe
SG: MJ
PG: Allen Iverson

Team Beta (Create/Pass first, Shoot second):

C: Noah
PF: Duncan
SF: LeBron
SG: Pippen
PG: Magic
