Default Dennis Rodman saves the world from nuclear destruction

Ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman hung out Thursday with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un on the third day of his improbable journey with VICE to Pyongyang, watching the Harlem Globetrotters with the leader and later dining on sushi and drinking with him at his palace.

“You have a friend for life,” Rodman told Kim before a crowd of thousands at a gymnasium where they sat side by side, chatting as they watched players from North Korea and the U.S. play, Alex Detrick, a spokesman for the New York-based VICE media company, told The Associated Press.

110-110 draw yeah right

Just like how N. Korea's soccer team won the olympics.

I love how N. Korea and S. Korea just sit there being the perfect example of why capitalism > socialism

I think you mean communism. Capitalism>Communism. Go read a book. In fact, please refrain from sharing any of your thoughts on politics or economics.

And to the OP maybe if you didn't know what to think you shouldn't have posted this. There really isn't much to say about this story (hence the incredibly short article on it).

Socialism is the necessary pre-cursor to an all out communist state (which in practicality, can never be achieved). All states, current or past, who adopted a communist line of governance have in actuality been socialist states.

And to your second point, it's an open basketball forum and the OP is well within his bounds to make a thread to spark discussion as long as its remotely related to basketball (which it was). There have been worst threads made so take your ignorant egotistical ass over there...

"any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods"

I believe this counts for the USA in certain ways, too.

But there's no doubt that North Korea is more totalitarian than the US, and most of us are glad it isn't the other way around. Just don't then say that socialism is better than capitalism for such reasons. That's like saying forwards are better than centers because LeBron James is better than Dwight Howard.

The USA is rapidly approaching socialism, but at the time Korea was split up the Soviets set N. Korea up as a centrally planned economy and single-party government, while the US set S. Korea up as a multiparty democracy with a free-market economy.

That's pretty much the most perfect real world experiment you can do comparing capitalism to socialism. They split up a country with no entrenched system of governance into equal parts and instituted different theories in each part. Fast forward 60 years and look how it turned out! Socialism can't feed itself

obviously there are capitalist countries that are very corrupt and have low social mobility/ high gini-coefficients, but the Korea situation provides the closest thing to a vacuum we have to compare these political/economic systems.

Just remembered that Ivan Johnson got banned from the Korean league

We had a lot of successful centers in history, not a single one successful socialist/communist country.
