So accolades like these and MVP's are important when comparing to Wade, yet when fans of Kobe compare him to Lebron they go out the window and simply become popularity contests.

Interesting.

There has never been more double standard increments of measurement for greatness put in place, than for Kobe Bryant by his fans.

No player has more all defensive team and all NBA team selections combined than Kobe Bryant. I'm pretty sure no "Kobe fan" is throwing them out the window in a Lebron comparison.

The double standard is one way. Shaq was the MDE. One MVP. The award doesn't mean best player in the league. Never has.

Kobe wins 5 rings with 1 HOF teammate. Unmatched in history btw. Yet his team is now "stacked" because it has 3 HOF teammates.

The double standard isn't one way.

Kobe is a shit defender now. Most defensive teams...

Shaq won 1 MVP because he only deserved 1. Show me which other season apart from the one he actually did win did he deserve it. The year Iverson won over him is his only case. All the other years in his prime he sat out too much in the regular season. So it should be 2 max.
There is no double standard.

There is no double standard.

Why does Kobe's defensive prowess now have to do with defensive awards awarded in prior years? They are unrelated. Kobe's defensive awards have received more message board ink than any other player in history. People seem to think that superstar bias and non conformity with "advanced defensive stats" when it comes to all defensive team awards began and ended with Kobe Bryant. That's the exact definition of a double standard.

Shaq didn't deserve more MVPs because the award has never been a best player in the league award.

As others have pointed out, I don't think it's really fair to compare them statistically, as they play completely different roles. I have no doubts that Wade could put up 27-28 ppg as a first option, but that's not what his team needs.

I do think Kobe's been the better player though. Consistency is what sets him apart imo.

Why bring up the MVP and Shaq then?

No its not, and no, no one thinks it started with Kobe. But people sure as hell do think hes the one that has gotten the most benefit of the doubt with it. And he has.

What I want to know is why Kobe stans spend so much time bashing Wade. Why are you guys so obsessed in making Kobe look better than Wade?

When it's the Finals, nobody will be talking about Kobe except you people.

You brought up MVP in some imagined Lebron vs Kobe debate. Lebron fanboys seem to believe its a best player in the league award. It isn't.

People (read haters) "think" a lot of unsupported nonsense about Kobe. Bring some facts to the table. Show me how all defensive awards prior to Kobe did not show superstar bias, how they were routinely awarded to no name role players, how they heavily relied on advanced defensive stats, how coaches never let a player's reputation influence their vote.

Its the same as it ever was. All NBA legends prior to Kobe received the same "benefit of the doubt".

Wade 2006 Finals

Lets ignore the fact that the dude shot about 15 free throws a game (More than prime Shaq ever had in any given series , at a time when people are deliberately fouling the dude on top of blatantly fouling his just to keep him out the post).

No lets look at who they're playing.

Dallas. Dallas was an offensively explosive team, they didn't shut down anyone.

Same Dallas Kobe outscored over 3 quarters that year? Same Dallas that was mediocre defensively and had no rim protection? Being guarded by JET and Stackhouse half the time?

That's better than what Kobe did against Sacramento or the Spurs in 01 or 02. Better than what he did in 09.

What Wade did against Detroit was great...something up their in the upper echelon of series performances, but that finals performance is all about context.
