That may still be up in the air. That 01 Lakers team only went 56-26 and nearly lost the division title to the Kings. If Miami gets the top record in the league with around 63-65 wins and cruise fairly easily to the title they might rank over that 01 Lakers team.
That was the regular season. A lot of underlying circumstances to that so-so record...Kobe missed about 15 games, Shaq missed 10, and Fisher only played like the last month of the regular season. (Laugh about Fisher being "important" but they had to rely on mid 30's Shaw and late 30's Harper to handle the PG duties) They hit the postseason in stride, finishing the regular season riding like a 12 game winning streak and dominated.
The Lakers beat up on a pretty solid Blazers team, didn't let any game come within 10 points in the sweep. Handled another solidly built team in the Kings, although they were closer games than the Blazers. Shaq destroyed the Kings...the first two games he had 40/20.
In the WCF.. the Lakers destroyed the spurs in games 3 and 4.. in game 3 the spurs scored less than 10 pts in the fourth quarter.
