As all of you know, each summer, I like to cast a spotlight on the a major rap album being released in the summer and this year I decided to switch it up, I will be shadowing a rock one as well. (stay tuned)
My first year it was Drake's debut, Thank Me Later, which no ever thanked me for bringing them the details, probably had something to do with it being a let down to most hip heads here, but who knows. Didn't appreciate the lack of appreciation, feel me?
Second year it was Watch The Throne, last year it was Nas's Life is Good.
To me there is just something so amazing about summer. Every one is happy, broads are exposing skin, countless things going on everywhere, school is out, did I mention that broads are showing skin? If I ever became a major recording artist, I would be the opposite of Rihanna, someone who is notorious for fall/winter releases. I feel like the streets and the people enjoy a record more thoroughly in the summer time, maybe I'm insane.
But this year, I've decided to cast my flashlight on
J.Cole's Born Sinner.
Originally the release date was supposed to be January 28, 2013 which was supported by this three minute video filmed in a church.

The f*cking sample that kicks in the end gives me goose bumps. It's some of that southern baptist shit that you hear and it takes you back to the days where revolutionaries wore suits and gave eloquent speeches ala MLK and Mr. X.

The Release Date as of now is June 25th, 2013...the same day that Wale's third album titled "Gifted" is supposed to be released. Should be a good day for hip hop.
