Default OT-your col. championship team that never was!

ame the best teams that could have happened IF players didn't go straight to the NBA or leave early. Only mention a team if you know that certain players were interested in the school or left early when they would've played with a great player had they stayed. Examples:

South Carolina

Kevin Garnett
Jermaine O'Neal
Bud Johnson (another 7 footer from Jermaine's high school, Eau Claire)
BJ Mckie (star combo guard at the time, all SEC)
Larry Johnson (I think that was his name, a transfer from UNC)

At the time (1996-97), USC could have had all these players on the same team.

Garnett was interested but turned pro before he got his SAT's back (he scored well enough to enter USC)

Jermaine went pro possibly because of the media frenzy around KG when he did it.

Bud did end up going to USC

BJ and LJ turned out to be rated the 2nd best backcourt in the nation, behind Mike Bibby and Miles Simon (Arizona).

That was our championship team that never was!

Also UNC....Imagine all the talent that went through there and left early...if they all stayed 4 years...wow.

Rasheed Wallace
Antawn Jamison
Vince Carter
ETC...
I don't know the exact years these players played (I know Jamison and Carter played together, maybe Sheed too???) But if they all stayed, not to mention other players I can't remember right now....what a powerhouse.

The Fab Five. And to pick an old scab, they're given too big a spot in college bball history for a team that won no championship. Extremely talented, but that's all.
