Default Orlando has no recollection of Dwight ever playing there.

kinda shocking that i found out recently that Tobias Harris was allowed to wear #12 for the Magic. Its like Dwight never played there before and gave them 7 great years of basketball. Sure he created havoc in the last 2 years with the coaching staff and general manager but you dont see the Cavs allowing other players to wear #23 as easily as the Magic have. Theres an unwritten rule they broke.

Why should they honour Dwight? He messed them around and it isn't like #23 and the Bulls either.

There's a reason why they retire jersey numbers.

i dont think Magic would retire Dwight jersey.. he hasn't accomplish that much.. have they retired Shaq's?

anyways.. if it's not going to be retired, then no reason the number can't be used.

Agreed.

On the other hand, though, you know no rookie is taking 23 with the Bulls in '99.

Theres no reason for Orlando to retire #12 right now because Dwight is still active in his playing career.

how quickly do teams retire a jersey once that player isnt on the team anymore (whether it be do to retirement, trades, or free agency)

and how often have teams retired jersey's when that player left on terrible terms? im honestly curious

and regarding tobias harris choosing 12. ive read its because it was a number worn by child hood friend of his who passed away from some disease, and he wasnt able to choose that number when he was with the bucks for whatever reason. or something to that regard.

I read something like that too, he wore 12 in college aswell didn't he? I thought it was an odd move when he chose that number in Orlando until I looked it up. Thought he was just being a cocky smart ass choosing it but he has a legit reason. I don't see him selling many jersey with it unless he becomes a real beast though.

Tobias is putting up good numbers with his new team. Orlando won't retire Douchewight Howard's jersey number.

They also haven't retired penny's number (#1).

They even let Tmac wear it later when he signed with them i n 2000.

Tmac was named best player of franchise history in 2003. And they probably won't retire it for either penny or tmac.

Is it a coincidence that most stars from the magic have expressed discontentment and left bitterly ?

Shaq, penny , tmac even g hill? Then Dwight?

Yeah, but they often still don't give out the number if they intend to retire it. I'm pretty sure no Laker has worn 34 since Shaq left.

Dwight's situation is different from Lebron's. Lebron left as a free agent, Dwight forced his way out, asked for his coach to be fired, insulted his teammates ect. He did a lot for the franchise, but left in the worst possible way.

What if Tobias becomes a superstar, do they retire #12 twice?
