Default Getting out of the way>>> being dunked on

Im tired of people saying that they want a guy challenging dunks WHEN THEY HAVE NO CHANCE. That makes no sense. I dont want people doing unnecessary fouls when its too late to contest. That's just stupid.

Case in point: Brandon Knight

People had the nerve to congratulate his idiocy. He should have got the fvck out the way. Now its a three point play and clippers have all the momentum in the world, cementing their grasp on the game.

Not only is it embarrassing, you cost your team.

Now if you can get close to the ball, go for it. Im all for defense.

he read the play correctly and almost got the ball but it was well-placed just out of his reach. Sometimes I agree but that wasn't such a bad gamble

Knight did the right thing. Jason Terry should have got the f*ck out of the way.

Depends on the situation. Jason Terry was an idiot for trying to contest the LeBron dunk but I think Brandon Knight made the right play (and was arguably offensively fouled).

Nah. Alot of times even making these guys adjust just an inch can mess the dunk up. You see tons of almost posters every game where if a guy just f*cked off it would have happened. Obviously it's risky but more likely to stop a player by trying than you are by getting out of the way, 3 point plays are part of the game. Just as likely to send him to the line for 2 than you are 3. Watch Kenneth Faried, dude gets dunked on all the time and has plenty of late contests but every so often he'll foul them and stop the dunk.

Getting out of the way has became a pretty gross part about basketball. Nobody wants to get dunked on and because of that they just give up on the play. I love the aesthetic's of basketball just as much as the next guy but at the end of the day it's a pretty meaningless part of basketball. 2 points = 2 points, NBA isn't AND1 or whatever those shitty basketball leagues were.

Even if it's a very small chance the guy will miss his dunk, it's still a chance. That's better than just giving it to him.

Getting out of the way is more bitchmade than getting dunked on.

Jalen Rose was being a tool in a halftime show recently, making fun of someone for getting dunked on (might've been Terry). Kurt Rambis said 'you've got to contest and try' and Rose said 'you'll never find video of me getting dunked on. I got out of the way'... Hmm maybe that's why Rambis has won something Jalen?

I don't remember well, but I think Brandon Knight was jumping up to try to get the pass, not knowing or being able to read what was coming.

This

It's an effort play. Once you encourage players to get out of the way of dunk; pretty soon guys won't be diving for loose balls because they might already be out of bounds.. it's a slippery slope when you try to tell guys to stop competing, even if it's being dunked on.

I would rather see guys on my team go for the block, regardless.

Uh, do you play basketball? Brandon Knight might have had a whole different perspective on the play than we do. He was still relatively far away from the basket and maybe thought DJ would be too far to dunk it. There are a lot of players in the NBA that wouldn't have been able to dunk it from that distance.

Also, I would much rather have a player try to stop a play and fail than have one give up easy points. DJ isn't a good FT shooter and if he didn't finish, that would have been a good play.

I did t like knight from Jordan, but Perkins who probably shouldn't have tried, I appreciated because he had a chance just not a good one. Unlike a guard against a center

Jalen Rose is a straight up b1tch, dude admits to not challenging shots AND sliding his foot under another players foot to purposely injure them just cause he's getting styled on
