Default Current John Wall or 2010-11 Derrick Rose (MVP Season)?

Who do you think is/was the better player?

Bonus: Who will be better going forward?

Rose, his play was consistently at a high level. Have to see more sustained success from Wall to consider him at the same level.

Going forward I would actually take Wall. I have high hopes for him.

If by current wall you mean wall in his last 15 games. Then its Wall easily.

25.3 ppg (48%fg, 84% ft)
8.7 apg
1.5 stls
0.6 blks
2.7 tov

PER of ~29.

In this stretch he is only behind Lebron James. If he keeps this up he will be a top 2 NBA player but I don't think he will sustain this.

If we are talking about the whole season then its Derrick rose easily. But you have to take into account that wall was injured and got off to a slow start.

Either way it will be interesting to see how wall and Derrick rose do, they might end up being the top 2 PG in the league in a couple of years (westbrook might have something to say about that).

D-Rose was more consistent but Wall is just ridiculous atm. He hits fadeaways like it's practice and the playmaking just seems to come naturally to him.

If Rose remains as athletic as he used to be and Wall won't cool off significantly, it'll be an interesting debate going forward. Right now it's John easily. Wall will never be as fun to watch as D-Rose, though.

wall, he makes everyone better, hell he even makes wizards a playoff team.
i don't know why people choose a score-first point guard who basically drive to the rim to score than a pass-first point guard who basically does the same thing to score.

I laughed at this thread and people that downplay rose as much as they can.
He deserved his MVP, and he was by far the better player than the 12-13 John Wall.

Care to elaborate? Not that I agree/disagree, but you'll need some objective evidence and a well-constructed argument if you want to truly convince other posters of your claims.

As crazy as this sounds, I think Wall is faster than Rose.

I think it's close. Both John Wall and Derrick Rose are underrated IMO (in many basketball discussions on and off this board). Rose's play making doesn't get enough credit. It's not like he's a 5 apg player. Rose put up 10+ assists 21 times in 2011, and 12+ assists 11 times.

He is. Rose turns faster, but Wall is much faster in the open court. The fastest players (overall speed) in the league right now are
  1. LeBron
  2. Wall
  3. Rose
  4. Westbrook

I think It's Rose - marginally.

You look at the Way the Wizards are playing on the offense right now and everything is dynamic....you have shooters and bigs moving in unison, passing is sharp, the entire offense is clicking.

There is no doubt that John Wall is a huge part of that, but at the same time he needs his coach to be focused on offense for that to occur. Those Bulls never really constructed an offense...it was almost all ISO and whatever you could derive. So Rose and to an extent Boozer and Deng simply had to carry an offense.

I don't see that with what Wall is doing, he's running an offense, but at the same time the offense is actually carrying itself.

To be honest I prefer that...it's better....but what Rose did was different...I think it was more difficult.

Now I know what happened in ECF when miami's defense shut that man down, let me start with this. BUT, he's a much better shooter than wall, a better defender and imho has a better basketball IQ. I'm not even mentioning absolutely no character and arrogance issues as wall is shouting that he's a max player.
On the other hand, Wall is doing pretty good stuff on a very average or below average team, that doesn't even sniff the playoffs.
Sorry dudes, it's like comparing kevin love to tim duncan, stats without context doesn't mean the slightest shit.
