I would absolutely add Noah before Howard or Ibaka. Blocks are a pretty stat, but far from being a good judge of defense.

It seems like that because they are not necessarily the most skilled defenders, but the most talented.... Its not fair you might think, but if you really think about it the best shot blocker impacts the defense dramatically.... because the shots around him he doesnt block will most likely be extremly contested anyways, it forces offensive players to take very uncomfortable shots inside, they have to redirect shots and think twice about getting in the paint... You can be the slowest human to ever live and know nothing about basketball, but if you are 100 feet tall or can reach the moon you will unfortunatelly be the biggest nightmare for any offensive player in the paint.....

I think what you are looking for is more skilled defenders.... Noah for example is a more skilled defender than Dwight is.... but Dwight is a more talented defender....

How is Larry Sanders not mentioned? He is having a crazy good year defensively.

The only bad part about Sanders defense is that he is overly agressive, very relentless, kindof careless (he is often in foul trouble and fouls out a bit to much). But ability wise defensively he is definitely at the top, for me at PF/C its between the likes of Dwight, Ibaka, Chandler, Noah and Sanders...... and some others are debatable...

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because you probably only watch when LeBron is playing (I'm positive based on your selections) but no, he's not. Serge sells out for blocks at EVERY opportunity. That is not the definition of a good defender. If you'd like to see good defense, watch KG or Duncan. Ibaka is no where near either of them even at their old age.

Choken One / RoundMoundofReb.

I agree that Ibaka is not a smarter defender than KG or Duncan but to say that he is not a good defender is just ignorant....

But he honestly isn't. You keep talking talented defenders, but what you are really saying is they are more athletic. Talent and athleticism is not the same thing.

Just because Ibaka is itching to leave his man open and contest a shot, does not make him a good defender. Same for Howard. And Sanders.

He's average. He leaves his man continuously, tries over and over for the Heroic block, easily spoofed into overplaying......... he's average.

No it isn't. He's not that good. He's middle of the pack.
