It's 'unfair' that basic common sense prevailed and now we might be able to better restrict people who shouldn't have access to guns' ability to procure them? About 90% percent of the country agrees that universal background checks should be the law of the land.

Pull your head out of your ass.

Let's face reality… almost all of the proposals to enhance and expand background checks also include registration to create a national database. In otherwords… every bill to expand background checks also includes step 1 in the playbook to disarm the nation. I would support enhanced and expanded background checks they were to follow the current system of once the check is done the paperwork is deleted within a short time frame.

I am pro-gun and can say that as long as background checks are kept affordable (sub-$30), I am for it. As great as firearm training etc. being mandatory sounds, training is not cheap. Ask anyone who has actually taken a course in firearm safety/use. And so by creating all these restrictions on firearm ownership, those that actually live in 'difficult' neighborhoods and require a firearm for his or her safety may not be able to afford one.

I feel firearms are meant to protect one from anyone or anything at anytime. Therefore it is smart to prepare for the worst, whenever. I'm not going to say it's going to happen in our lifetime, but maybe the next or the one after, whether it be a natural disaster or government collapse.

In a time of uncertainty even today, it's ignorant to assume everything is going to stay as-is.

Well if it passes he won't be able to legally buy a gun. It's understandable.

That anyone is against stopping violent felons and known psychos to go buy street sweepers off the record is amazing.

And they wonder how they get painted as the unsympathetic side of these things.

You are in favor of known violent criminals just being able to go casually get a gun from someone he knows....or cop whatever from a gun show(depends on the state....lets not have that argument).

That anyone can get such a dangerous weapon without paperwork is a joke.

Its not enough that you get to bend the bill of rights saying a well armed and regulated militia is key into....everyone gets a gun no matter what...you want to take it to mean....you shouldnt have to go on the record when you hand a madman an Ak47?

That its taken this long is shameful.

You seriously don't understand what the founders were trying to accomplish with that?

Incredibly dumb comparison and nowhere near true.

You simply don't know the actual history of the Holocaust. How would 90% of Germans even know about it? Since it mainly was occurring in Poland and Eastern Europe, they wouldn't.

They wanted to make sure that the former colonies would have a ready standing militia equipped with single shot muskets and flintlock pistols in case the King of England decided to start set trippin again.

Good, I suppose.

But it's not going to fix anything. We're way, WAY too far gone. Guns are as American as apple pie now. Short of inventing some gun finding radar and sweeping the nation coast to coast and rounding em all up any crazy bastard'll be able to get a gun pretty easy.
