One of the problems with Vera Farmiga is that she has very little to no fright or creep factor. Don't get me wrong, I love getting to see her every week, but I don't think she's the perfect fit for Norma Bates.

I always thought of Norma as being far more stern and conservative than the one in the series. I don't think it is Vera's fault but the writers. She should be more of a spinster with no interest for men outside of Norman.

But maybe they are leading up to that?

Could be.

I think Farmiga has come close to nailing the stern and conservative vibe, but her personality is so spacey. She kind of "floats" and seems like she's always on the verge of falling asleep. It's too much of a sexy, non-threatening quality for Norma to have.
