Default laser tattoo removal increased 43% from 2011 to 2012

Quote:
Plastic surgeons and dermatologists are seeing more and more people who want their tattoos removed, often because they worry that the tattoos could cause problems with employment.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the number of people undergoing laser tattoo removal increased 43% from 2011 to 2012. This is consistent with a recent survey from the United Kingdom which found that nearly one-third of people suffer from tattoo regret.

Several years ago, elaborate designs on the lower back became all the tattoo rage, until someone began calling them "tramp stamps." Now I suspect that thousands of women (and maybe even a few unfortunate men) regret getting them.

Other tattoo fads which have come and gone include the barbed wire around men's arms and the Chinese letters which may, or may not, mean what you think they do.

I also read the other day how the tattoo removal biz is now bigger than the tattoo biz, because it is more expensive to remove them.

tats are more popular than ever now I think...and as an artist I love tattoo art, some of the stuff tat artists are doing now is very impressive, but I have to think that tats are seeing their prime fizzle out now, so many people have them that it just isn't a unique look anymore at all, even if you're sleeved out.

All these tattoo shows on TV contribute to the tattoo craze too. I think some tats on girls are pretty hot, but I would never get one. I don't want that regret later.

I hate reality TV but Ink Master is a very good show...

there are some really talented artists on that show (and some bad ones)

it is worth the watch IMO

but yeah, I think we are going to see the tat craze start to fizzle out soon...

Well, obviously. If more people have tattoos, then obviously everything to do with tattoos will increase, including tattoo removal.

yeah i like that show. I appreciate the art and skill needed for good tattoos but i'd never get one. I know i'm not going to be into the same sh*t 10 years from now. I have buddies now that have the most embarrassing tribal/dragon sh*t and although none will admit they made a mistake you damn well know they are regretting it.

yeah that's the thing, there is virtually no image in existence that will look cool over years and years of time.

had I gotten a tat 10 years ago?...probably a 95% chance I would be wishing it was gone today...

^^^ Megan Fox...got her Monroe tat removed...that tat didn't even look bad, she just got sick of it

Jamie Fox

wtf is all that shit you decided to put all over yourself?

he probably regrets it already...

Where I live everyone and their mom has a tattoo. Tattoo shops every other block. Not a fan myself, but whatever.

I've had all mine for a few years now and I don't regret any. I also don't do anything in the spare of the moment though. I have a personal rule that I won't get anything unless I've wanted it for at least 6 months (or a year if its bigger than a few inches). Also won't get any above shoulder level or below my elbows for work obviously.

I guess Tyson's waiting for his first Hangover royalty check that isn't garnished by the IRS

I don't have any tattoos, but that's because I'm indecisive as hell, nothing against them or anything.

But the people that get the shit on a budget, what the hell is wrong with these people? I'm talking about the people that want something specific, then go get an estimate from the guy but "that's too expensive" so they start bargain hunting. If I'm getting something that'll be on my body for all of time price is the least of my concerns.

Also, I'm forever grateful for tattoos. Yeah I don't have any, but my best friend has a Dave Matthews Band logo on his shoulder and he's NEVER, EVER going to live that shit down. It's the ultimate trump card.
