I think there's alot of similarities between Kobe and KG. Both right out of high school, have a similar passion and spirit for the game, intense, basically came into the league together( KG preceding him by one year). Not surprising that there's mutual respect there.
It's crazy to look back at it now, but Webber was certainly a Top 50 talent. Then the micro fracture surgery happened and he was never the same. It was hard to watch him play in his post-Kings playing days.
Why are people acting like this is a big deal or something special? I've said this many times. Players are not fans. They don't go around hating on each other like crazed, obsessed stans on message boards. NBA players are basically a fraternity, most of whom know how to separate business from personal life. Players can KILL each other on the court and then go out to dinner or to the club with each other later that night. At worst they are professional rivals who respect each other off he court. Even old school players who were rivals had off the court friendships and didn't want to see the other get hurt. Study the relationships between Magic and Isaiah, MJ and Barkley, Wilt and Russell.
