It's possible, but I seriously doubt that has anything to do with the situation. If it does, I'd say good riddance, because he missed 33 games this year and phoned in the last couple weeks. That is half the season. If he is that devoid of a feeling of responsibility, he will never reach his full potential anyway.

I don't think any of that has anything to do with it. I just think he was frustrated with his own game and acted out, which isn't a shock for a barely 21 year old facing heavy expectations and likely suffering the first real adversity of his basketball life.

He'll be fine. Looking much better tonight.

Could have drafted Big V and Drummond to put alongside Kyrie.

That would have been a dynasty.

so stupid. I'll take TT over J-Val all day every day. Dion over Barnes all day every day.

Do people f*cking forget that the cavs are made up of rookies sophomores and d-leaguers and are playing for draft picks?

Cleveland media blows up these stories like no other. Throw in the fact that no cleveland cavs beat writer has any clue WTF is going on with the org ever since chris grant came in and you get these dumb assed speculations on how Kyrie quit on the team when a few weeks ago he was doing nothing wrong and being the golden boy repping Cleveland at all star weekend.

He'll never take the 1-year qualifying offer. No star player on their rookie contract has risked it regardless of how bad their team was. I don't see any reason why he'll be the first. He's in Cleveland for at least another 5 years.

Irving is a great player but he needs to shut up when it comes to these things. He's a player, not part of the management. If the team still blows in 2 years and there is no semblance of a core around him, then he's got a right to start getting frustrated.

I said Drummond not Barnes.

Only Cavs homers would take TT over Big V.

I would be too

upcomming PGs like Lillard and Wall have something to look forward too but he's gotta deal with one of the worst rosters that disband after every offseason and one of the worst cities. Cleveland is a magnet for talent but nobody is ever gonna stay.

I'm iffy on whether Kyrie is/will be a REAL no1 option in this league but i'll never know while he's on the cavs.

also come to LA

Kevin Durant rookie season: 20 wins.
sophomore season: 23 wins.
Third season: playoffs appearance

The Cavs has drafted themselves some pretty good players. Waiters was surprisingly good to me. T2 has been great since Varojao got injured. Cavs could be a playoff team next season.

For Kyrie, I would say he's way more tired of getting injured than losing. Hasn't played more than 60 games in each of the first 2 seasons yet.

The Cavs are doing the right thing. Tanking this season was good. You don't wanna be stuck in limbo. They will add another lottery pick this season, then tank next season as well and get another lottery pick. Then make a run at Lebron in 2014 with a talented young roster.

That's the really funny part about this whole thing. People are talking as if Kyrie has been out there breaking his @ss during the first two years to drag this team along. He missed 23 games this year with injuries that, on a team that was actually contending for something, I absolutely would expect him to play far more than that.

Last year, he missed 30+ games on similarly not serious injuries.

Now, I actually agreed with the decision either by the management or the coaches or the doctors or him to make sure he only played when there was no danger of longterm re-injury, but for people to rag on a team for not winning now that is obviously rebuilding through the draft and whose best player missed 50+ games in two seasons and is barely 21...

It's a little silly.

And, outside of a few games to end this season, Kyrie has been a very positive force on the team (at least from where I'm standing) and also seems to understand the situation.

In short, this is being blown completely out of proportion.

Also, this was actually a very good night for the Cavs. The Jazz loss means they will get the Lakers' draft pick in this year's draft, left over from the deal for Sessions. Turns out, that trade deadline move with Sessions going to the Lakers netted the Cavs two draft picks, one of which no one expected to be as high as it is (this year's Lakers pick will be just outside the Lottery).

Hell, the whole reason the Cavs have Kyrie in the first place is a trade with the Clippers. Essentially, they acquired Kyrie for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon.

Two more picks this year, one of which will be Top 5, even if the ping-pong balls don't fall our way, the other is just outside the Lottery.

Maybe they bring in two more young guys. Maybe a move is made taking advantage of those two picks and the plethora of cap space?

Who knows, but I think it is pretty clear the Cavs have done the right thing with the rebuild since James left. People don't have to agree with every pick (you can go through EVERY draft EVERY year and do that to just about EVERY team), but they've set themselves up so they had the No. 1 and No. 4 picks in 2011, the No. 4 and No. 17 picks in 2012 and another high lottery and mid-round pick this year. And both Thompson and Waiters have shown a lot of potential.

When these young guys are ready to start actually winning (Kyrie is among those who has things to work on over the summer), the cap space will be used to supplement all those picks with complimentary pieces (and maybe more).

This was the second year in a rebuilding process people knew would take some time. Patience is a virtue and I feel like the hard part of this is over, depending what happens with the lottery this offseason.

Considering Varejao barely played this year and Kyrie missed another two dozen games, the 25-win range seems about right.

To be fair, all 8 teams that passed on Drummond messed up.

And you could do that kind of Monday morning quarterbacking with every draft. There are always guys that fall beyond where they probably should and guys that are mid-round or late-round picks who turn out to far exceed expectations (it was Faried in '11).

I really loved Drummond as a prospect coming out of the draft, but a lot of GMs were scared off for whatever reason. He almost completely fell out of the Top 10.

And, we'll see what happens with Waiters. Yeah, Drummond is looking like a potential beast and more power to him... But DWait didn't exactly have a slouch of a year. He was second in this rookie class in scoring and his efficiency improved drastically in the second half of the season.

The Kings are the team with the real egg on their faces at this point, since they've already traded the guy they picked over Drummond... And he was a big man, to boot.
