I have no issues saying tyson has been bad this year, he has.

But if you think the reason why the team lost yesterday was primarily Tyson, your'e nuts.

For the record my favorite player is actually Shumpert.

I dont mind Melo, but i dont like his game.

Hibbert is an all star center, and he is better than Tyson, not even sure why you would think he'd win the matchup.

But Paul George is owning the supposed best scorer in the NBA by a monumental landslide.

The team wont win with a 41%, no pass, turnover machine.
What are you talking about ?

Melo: 26.7 / 8.3 / 1.7 41% FG
George: 17.7 / 5.7 / 4.3 36% FG

Melo is a turnover machine ??? He's averaging 2 turnovers in the series, GEORGE IS AVERAGING 5.3

You don't know what are you talking about. Sorry but you're the one who's nuts.

Paul george turns the ball over making plays, Melo was turning ball over dribbling.

41% is all you need to see.

False. Hibbert only plays like this against the Knicks.

The Pacers would shut him down, just they are with melo.

No they wouldn't because Tyson would be guarding him.
It's a fact. Swap Tyson and Hibbert and we're 3-0 with a chance of sweeping them.

We don't even need Hibbert's offense. His defense and rebounding in the series has been so much better than Tyson's that it alone would win the games for us.

if your debating hibbert being better than Tyson there is no argument there....he is the better player.

the Pacers would still attack whomever is manning the Knicks frontline though

Hibbert doesn't rebound and defend like this against everyone, thus why he is a career 6 rebound player and only averaged 8 this season.

Hibbert defense comes with being on a team that plays continuous solid defense.

The Knicks are lazy, hibbert would foul out nightly on this squad.

he should have fouled out in every game he's played in this series.

I think Woodson needs to go big.
Why ? Well the advantage of small ball is more shooting on the floor, more ball movement and mismatches.

Let's be real for a second. With or without Melo on the floor we don't move the ball. Apparently no one can shoot anymore. Also no one is able to take advantage of the mismatches,West is guarding Shumpert and he can't take advantage of it.
Not only that we don't have any advantage from it on offense but we're getting killed on the glass and because of the mismatches we give up a ton of wide open three pointers.

Pacers don't have offensive talent. They are a big team who defends and rebounds.
I would go big, take away their rebounding advantage and defend 1 on 1.

I don't like isolation basketball but we don't move the ball anyways. By going big the Pacers wouldn't have advantage on rebounds and their players wouldn't have wide open looks.
As much as some of you hate Melo if we can make this 1 on 1 battle I'm confident he'll outscore whoever Pacers go to. George is shooting 36% and half of the looks he's got were wide open threes because of bad rotation on defense. Make him play 1 on 1 and his percentages are going to plummet.

Clutch I dont like the way Melo plays, when he has a complete game I enjoy that, when he goes bonkers on offense, sometimes that is enjoyable as well.

There is a reason why the media was killing him for scoring 50 points and 1 assist against a team with no leBron or Wade on the floor....he sucks the life out of a team.

The team is too dependent on Melo scoring...it's awesome in the regular seaon, but playoff teams adjust to that.

There is a reason why his fg% which isn't good away, drops harder than a stock market crash in the playoffs.

He isn't even being doubled, he just plays a very inefficient brand of basketball and routinely doesn't do the other things needed to get wins.

Yes tyson got abused by hibbert......

But David West had as many OFFENSIVE BOARDS as Melo had total boards.

12 rebounds to 5....it isn't just tyson getting worked out there.

Come on man,we don't even move the ball when Melo is on the bench.
Whenever Melo comes out at the start of the 2nd the opposing team goes on a run,it has happened all playoffs long.

I don't know whose fault it is but we don't move the ball regardless of is Melo playing or not.
If team started to move the ball and play wonderful offense when he's on the bench I would say "well,it is Melo's fault". But it just doesn't happen.
It might be because of Woodson. It might be because other players love to jack up shots too (J.R.,even Shump and Felton) and it might be because most of the players are inept offensively (Kenyon,Tyson,Kidd,Novak...). Probably it's combination of everything stated.

But you can't blame just one man for the lack of ball movement when it's obvious that the problem is the same even when that man doesn't play.

The team is built around Melo, they historically pass up shots to make sure Melo gets his amount.

You can't expect the team to start automatically moving the ball just because melo sat down...they start to scramble then.

I dont know if you've played organized basketball but no one plays well with a player who takes the bulk of the shots is inefficient at such and does little else.

Think about the Mavs for a second....

Dirk takes the bulk of their shots, but that ship team was built around ball movement and defensive minded role players.

Dirk got better in the post season, Melo got worse.

I assure you if Melo was efficient at what he does best you'd never hear a peep from me.

This is the first year I've actually got on Melo over anything, and there is a reason for that....he's got enough to win, but he has to do his job as well.

His man shouldn't have 12 boards...5 on offensive end, while Melo has 5 total and can't score.

There's no point in discussing this anymore. We have different opinions.
While I think you have some good points I disagree in a big picture. You're making it look like Melo is the main culprit if we lose the series and I disagree with that. He's not perfect and definitely deserves some blame but there are people who are more to blame for our failure.

No one is gonna look at this series if the Knicks lose and blame tyson and jason kidd.

Those guys were winners before coming here.

You'll hear more about how Melo corrupts players before they get the blame.

The same things you are holding Tyson to are the same things our starting power forward is not doing.

David West lit Melo up in game 1 and made him look like a wuss in game 3 on the boards.

It reminds me of when Barkley joined the Rockets after their two peat.

Barkley got blamed becasue he's the loser, no one would dare blame Dream because he was a winner.

The big picture is alot of our guys have been playing subpar in these playoffs, but the superstar gets the blame...

Dirk got it, Lebron it....only winning changes it.

knickcity I agree with you. As a whole this team played poorly but the Pacers played great defense. The Knicks didnt play bad defense but when they made mistakes in the rotation or doubled the Pacers made the right pass and hit open shots. I couldnt believe how the paint always looked packed and the perimeter players were covered. How can that happen were they playing with 8 guys on the hardwood?

Playoff games are when superstars show up and lead teams to victories. They take the team on their shoulders and does whatever it takes for the team to win. Role players get the blame when stars get it done. If you build a team to revolve around a scorer then yeah of course what Melo does and doesnt do will effect the outcome more than any other player.

You have to understand basketball a little better if you think the outcome of this series is going to be based on what the role players do more than Melo. The blame will go this way what Melo did and didnt do, what Woody did an didnt do, then Jr. Smith on the offensive end then everyone else. That's the way it should be!

39% FG
28pts on 26 shots a game
1.7 assist per game
1.2 steals per game
.11 blocks per game
2.14 turn over per game

How do these numbers equate to a strong showing?

I dont want to get in the blame game so I wont. Melo is a great volume scorer he isnt anything else. If you put him on superstar status then I and every Knick fan can crucify him for what he isnt! Don't mention Tyson's salary in comparison to what Melo makes.

This team has to make the extra pass and minimize the mental lapses on defense.
