Same reason Cowboys traded the best RB in the NFL (Walker) for draft picks...They are an awful team with no QB and no chance at winning anything so its time to rebuild

I am thinking the no guarenteed money is because of Revis injury concerns, Revis probably showing his faith in himself by accepting no guaranteed cash.

Yeah but the Cowboys got a mountain of picks and the Jets got 1 extra pick they wouldn't have already gotten if he left via FA.

Not knowing what we do in the draft, we have the potential to be a legit contender this season. Not saying we'll win the Super Bowl, I'm realistic.

Last year, our biggest problem was defending the pass. We ended the season last year with Danny Gorrer and Leonard Johnson as our starting CBs and a rookie and Ronde Barber at safety. Now, our secondary is Revis, Wright, Barron, Goldson and probably Ronde playing nickel. Less will be expected of Barron and Ronde now, which should let them flourish more.

The Bucs' biggest weakness from last year is now, potentially, one of the league's top 3 secondaries. Plus we get Adrian Clayborn back from injury and Da'Quan Bowers gets to have his first healthy offseason/training camp.

If TB can stay healthy and if Revis is still elite, I could see them competing for the South title.

Their offense should be fine with Martin, Jackson, Williams, etc. as long as Freeman plays well, which he should if the OL stays healthy.

His contract is really at least 30 million guaranteed. Unless he's horrendous and they cut him in the next offseason.

I think the 9-13 range is a great place to be in the draft. Jets have two picks now in that space.

I kind of like the trade. They weren't exactly Revis away from being in the superbowl. I don't think paying 15-16 million a year for a corner on a rebuilding and cap starved team is exactly ideal.

They also held up just fine on defense without Revis. Still finished first overall I believe in pass defense, even though they didn't have an impact pass rush up front.

Now they can address other areas of their team with a borderline elite prospect.

I also like it for the Bucs...they needed to get better in the secondary, clearly....and have done just that. It was their biggest weakness last year.
No elite prospects, I think that the players taken between pick #15 to pick #60 will all be similarly talented. This draft is loaded with guys who aren't elite but who are very good. I think the talent differential from mid-first rounders to second round picks is nearly even. So yes, this draft is loaded with depth, but it doesn't hurt too much to give up a mid first rounder (especially for the best CB in the league) because the talent level of these players is so even.

Why would Revis take no guaranteed money? He's going to get cut in 3-4 years and then his window for a big contract will be closed.

I don't think it's a horrible trade for the Jets either. Atleast they clear up some cap and get some picks to rebuild.

NFL players union didnt say nothing about this deal? Never heard of a contract without guaranteed money for an elite player like Revis. Bucs made out here. Jets got something for nothing. Not that nothing was the next solution but Revis didnt want to be apart of that franchise so move on.

When you put "unless..." then the contract is not guaranteed. So stop pretending it is because nothing about this deal is guaranteed.
