Not to defend D'Antoni and what he had changed,
but Dwight didn't start off as a good defensive player either this season. All of us were wondering what was wrong with him because he was playing like his childhood pet dog was run over senselessly by an 18 wheeler truck repeatedly (don't get any ideas). His defensive effort came late in the season and therefore was too late to be considered for anything.
Why else was he only All-NBA 3rd team this year? Because individually he just couldn't produce well with the back surgery recovery process.
