Default Cortisone Shot to the Thumb, Can I Play Right Away?

anyone who can help? i have trigger finger and doctor injected my thumb with cortisone but i forgot to ask him if i could play pick up ball after. Would you guys know? the only thing he said is that it should get better in 1-2 days. i figured maybe i can play with a taped up thumb joint.
