Default Melo is shooting 41% on dunks/layups in the playoffs

http://www.basketball-reference.com/...s_p layoffs=1

Is there a worse finisher in the league?

Looking at the numbers a little more closely, we see that he's 9-9 on dunks, and an astonishing 11-40 on layups. That's right, he's shooting under 28% on layups, which has to be a historic level of incompetence. Breaking down his shot attempts at the rim by game in the playoffs:

BOS game 1: 1-3
BOS game 2: 2-2
BOS game 3: 1-3
BOS game 4: 3-7
BOS game 5: 5-10
BOS game 6: 1-5

IND game 1: 3-10
IND game 2: 5-10
IND game 3: 0-1

But he's the best scorer in the game, even though he can't make a layup, right?

He's missing shots at the rim just to pad his offensive boards average. A student of Moses Malone if I ever saw one.

I find it amusing when people say he's the best scorer in the league. The reasoning I see is usually 'he can score in more ways than Durant because Durant doesn't have as good a post game'.

Well, at least Durant can make ****ing layups.

I never really got the "He can score in so many ways!" thing. He mostly just chucks up jump shots from one area of the floor. Most of the other superstars are much better at driving to the basket.

He's always been a terrible finisher. Seriously, if he could finish at the rim like Wade/Kobe/Durant/LBJ/Harden he'd be a top 5 player in the league. This year he got to the rim nearly 7! times a game and only shot 55%. Just awful.

Yes, there are garbage players like Fisher, but they rarely attack.
