I heard about this last night on The JT the Brick Show. Really unfortunate end to what might've been an amazing trip. Though I'm sure some laugh at the mere silliness of the situation, I commend this man for at least wanting to do something creative with his free time. It just so happens that life can be an evil bitch sometimes.
Where you see "living," I see "wasting a year of your life dribbling a basketball across a continent when you could be doing something productive." Since the fact that different people see things different ways obviously flew clear over your head the first time, I'll reiterate: different strokes. Hopefully you grasp this concept.
What are your plans for the next year that you deem productive?
Do you think spending 8 months on the Appalachian trail is unproductive?
