Ask non basketball fans in Britain to name a Basketball player and some may know Michael Jordan. Quite a lot would not even know him though.

What an incredible picture. Just goes to show how great of a manager Ferguson is and the talent Beckham has.

Beckham is a pure class act. His skill and knowledge of the game is top notch and he never let his stardom/spice girl wife get in the way of his game. He never let it get to his head and showed that multiple times. He made a great contribution to US soccer in my opinion.

I was very lucky to watch David Beckham play twice. Once against FC Dallas in a charity match (he was injured in the FC Dallas match the previous year and made it up to the fans by coming back...CLASS) and I saw him play against FC Barcelona at the Rose Bowl in LA (great experience). David Beckham scored on one of his signature free kicks. Left side. Upper 90. One of my favorite players ever.

You've never been to Europe. You live in NY with your wife. You're american. What possibly gives you any sort of merit to make a statement like this? You're an idiot.

My favourite sportsman of all time. As a football fan in England, there is no one higher. I was 6 when he got sent off against Argentina (the low point of his career), 9 when he dragged us into the 02 world cup, 10 when he was the talisman of the 2nd best team at the 02 WC (injured by an Argentinian a couple of month before, I might add), 11 when he became the first major English player during my time as a fan to move to a big European club... The sense of hope when he stood over a free kick knowing something was about to happen is unrivalled by any player in the game in my lifetime. And he delivered on the biggest stage, in the biggest moments of his career vs Greece, penalty vs Argentina, FKs against Columbia, Excuador...

If you're an English football fan who doesn't realise his impact above any other Englishman you're clinically retarded.

I remember talking about the NBA to my sister's ex (who's British) a while ago, he knew of MJ and Shaq in the 90s and wanted to know who the big star was now, I said LeBron James and he was like, "Ron James?" (the room was somewhat crowded/noisy). He'd never heard of him or Kobe; in general they're not marketed internationally as much as MJ or Shaq were.

Hard for me to be objective as I wasn't alive during Moore's time but I'd still say Beckham for his global impact. I'd ask my dad, but he's a West Ham fan so no doubt he'd say Moore

How have people not heard of Lebron James? I find that kind of ridiculous. Basketball is probably the second most popular sport in the world and is growing at a ridiculous pace, for someone with an internet connection to not know a future top 3-ish player ever in the NBA seems odd.

I know who Messi, Christiano Ronaldo and Ibrahimović are and I barely watch soccer. I can't even take the sport seriously sometimes, but I still know some of the premiere players, I'm not obtuse.

While the guy is more of one of the best specialists than the best players, he did win 4 top league championships in 4 different countries and brought huge money to those leagues he played.

I was lucky to see him play live a bunch of times also. Two of them is at an MLS All-Star Game and a CONCACAF Champions League game in a jam-packed Rogers Centre where this happened:

The way it turned out was just plain awesome!

Thank you, Beckham!!
