But if you had to trade Shumpert + #24 to move up, which draft pick would you do it for?
Id say only Nerlens Noel & Anthony Bennett.
This isnt the kind of draft to make that kind of move IMHO. I still hold some reservations on Shump because I dont believe this organization has done a good job developing ANY players. I do believe in Shump doing work on his own though.
This team has given up so many draft picks and players to get where they are. I think its time they find a scouting/personel department that can bring in more young guns. Some championship teams can do it the way the Knicks are doing it but the Knicks are just not getting it done. Buying a roster just doesnt work.
Things are looking bleak for the next 2 years for this team (contract/draft picks wise). But I digress I will find a silver lining eventually.
Rameek I couldn't agree more. This is not the draft to trade Shump to move up in at all. I also agree about our piss poor scouting department. I've been complaining about this on this board for years now and nobody paid me much attention. We have lazy scouts and a lazy GM. Do you get instantaneously better through the draft and summer league and league minimum deals? No. But the good teams get better using these methods that are put in place specifically to help you get better without having to mortgage the house trying to hit it big yet again in Free Agency.
The Knicks have routinely not taken Summer League seriously. We routinely don't develop young players. We routinely squander draft picks (mainly 2nd rounders). To me, how you build a team, is getting 1 or 2 top tier players, finding a really good player around the 10 million dollar range, and then getting solid role players that compliment their talents. So far, the Knicks have just shown, they want to get the biggest name they can find, regardless of whether he is capable of helping the team.
