Yea Wogi but seeing your fascination with athletic freaks I already knew that you would support a Gay-Wallace swingman combination, but don't you think thats a little low on the scoring side (at least until Gay developes more of a nose for scoring)? Felton | Wallace | Gay | May | Okafor would struggle to consistently crack 95 most nights.

Damn yall reall think so? Maybe I'm looking at Pip in my Bull tinted rose-colored shades but I seriously believed Pip was only a smidgen less of an athlete than MJ was. Is Gay seriously that great of an athlete or am I overrating Pippens athleticism.

Default Gay impression

If he lasts, he actually would be a good fit for Minnesota.

He would get a lot of open looks behind KG and RD.

that's a bold call. Artest is one of my favorite defenders today and even his defense isnt that close to Scotties.

i hope Gay can make your prediction come true tho. he's loaded with talent

I'd say he is certainly close. Pippen was a freak though and as far as the rest of the game goes... well Gay has nothing on Pip. His handle isnt even close, his defense is light years behind(probably the thing thats furthest away from being Pip like).

I cant see Gay being close to Pip really.

I don't see Gay as more athletic.

I doubt Rudy will ever have the Basketball I.Q of Scottie Pipen, not even close probably. What made Scottie so good with fundamentals, heart, MJ... and the most overlooked Basketball I.Q.

Pippen was a shut-down defender, arguably the best man-to-man defender on teh perimeter ever, who also was a monster in the passing lane. He also was a great distributor (showed that he could play the point as late as his days with the Blazers), crazy athletic, could finish over anybody eitehr with a monster dunk or acrobatic layup, had range beyond the 3 point line, basically had every skill you could ask for in a player, and had no real weaknesses. When he played there was always a vocal minority that thought he was as good as MJ. His problem was his perceived lack of maturity at times (i.e. not entering a game when the final shot was called for Kucok instead of him) and choking at the end of big games. I guess if it helps think of a 6'7-6'8 KG.

Close, I'd say he's actually SLIGHTLY more athletic but doesn't use it nearly as well. I've seen him on runouts at UConn and he gets WAY the f*ck up. But he's not aggressive like Scottie and won't dunk in crowds like Scottie either. Nor is he a bulldog on defense like Scottie......in fact, he's always been soft to me.

I'll say this though......he's a better shooter than Scottie. His jump shot's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in sports. It gets such arc and perfect rotation....it's seriously gorgeous to look at.

I remember the Jordan years well and I never remember anyone saying Pippen was better than Jordan. What I DID hear people say was that they were the two best players in the game, and I occasionally heard people refer to Mike as 1a and Scottie as 1b.
