Default Detroit Pistons head coach job update

Phil Jackson was brought in as a consultant on Detroit's coaching search. McMillan interviewed early with Detroit and is thought to be regarded highly by Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars. Former Pistons player Hunter, given permission by Phoenix, also has been interviewed. San Antonio's top assistant, Mike Budenholzer, and Indiana assistant Brian Shaw, who worked under Jackson with the Los Angeles Lakers, also are candidates.

I've been reading that Joe D didn't mess up the last coaching search... it was Tom Gores. It sounds like Gores might mess this one up too. He needs to worry about the finances and not the basketball stuff. Just because he's rich doesn't make him a genius on basketball talent. I'm really worried about the organization and the direction it's headed now.

Well it won't be Mike Budenholzer, Hawks just snagged him.

The Pistons interviewed Adrian Griffin today.

It sounds like they are done interviewing and are close to a decision. The top two would be Nate McMillan and Maurice Cheeks. I'm really hoping for McMillan. That would be a first good head coach in a long time. I guess Brian Shaw isn't going to get an interview. There's a small part of me that sees him being a good fit. The triangle could work with Drummond & Monroe. The main problem is we don't have a wing scorer to make it work. I think McMillan will turn things around more than any of the other candidates though.

Both good choices in my opinion...

I think Cheeks could really devlop Knight into a great two way point guard...

I think he could help his development. What scares me is if we draft CJ McCollum like everyone expects us to then it's kind of irrelevant anyhow. You can't have a backcourt with 2 guys who are 6'3 and barely 200 pounds.
