With Miami facing elimination tonight against Indiana, there's a rumor that Ray Allen has already made plans for next season.
People close to Ray Allen claiming he is thinking about opting out of his contract hoping to return to Boston for 1 year & retire a Celtic.

Take this for what it's worth right now. Ray has an option to stay in South Beach for 2013-2014 and this is just someone hearing someone say something that's "close" to Allen. He wanted a bigger role when he went to Miami last summer, but he's been relegated to just shooting threes in the ECF
Now, this report simply credits a thin source or ďpeople close toĒ as the reasoning behind this potentially having any ground. Some will roll their eyes at this while others will give it some thought, but letís consider a few obvious factors.
Would Ray Allen really consider returning to Boston? Well, he has a player option and could basically be an unrestricted free agent this summer. So yes, technically itís an option for Allen.
With that being said, would the Celtics even be interested? He did skip out on them for the Miami Heat, remember.
In fact, would it even be worth getting the gang back together for one more run in Boston (that includes a healthy Rajon Rondo)? Once again, some will say no, some will yes. But considering this team was one win from the NBA Finals a season ago, it might not be that farfetched.
Plus, itís more than appealing and itís one story line that could very well keep the Celtics dialed in for one last stand should Kevin Garnett return and the Celtics opt to keep Paul Pierce on board.
Yet, why would Allen consider or be considering this type of move while the Heat are preparing for a Game 7 battle in the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night?
I'll agree with the point the author made regarding Allen's role on this team. What he's doing right now is probably not what he signed up for...at the very least, it wasnt part of the sales pitch they made him. That being said, I dunno what he really expected when joining a Lebron James team. They're not going to feature him. at all. At some point, his time in Miami was going to come down to "Hit threes when Lebron and Wade allow you to have the ball" and little else. I said when he signed there that at some point he was gonna drop his option or Miami was going to use him as trade bait...I stand by that.
As to the Boston return...highly unlikely. I don't think Miami loses tonight. They're more than likely Finals bound while the C's are in that dreaded "too good for the lottery" space. Why do that and go back to the same drama that drove him away? He's already burned the bridge back to a Celtics uniform, although I suppose stranger things can happen. Feels unlikely to me.
