Prosecutor: Aaron Hernandez "Orchestrated The Execution" [Updating]

Victim Identified In Murder Probe With Ties To Aaron Hernandez
The media have swarmed the North Attleboro, Mass., home of Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who has been questioned in connection with the murder… Read…
Before a capacity crowd at Attleboro District Court that included the family of Odin Lloyd, former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arraigned on a charge of murdering Lloyd, and five assorted counts of firearm possession.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Hernandez "orchestrated the execution," the prosecutor said, and asked that he be held without bail. The judge agreed; Hernandez will be jailed.

Video of Hernandez entering the courtroom:

Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-pro football player, had known Hernandez for about a year—the girlfriends of the two are sisters.

Prosecutors detailed Lloyd's multiple gunshot wounds to the side, arms, and chest, including two fatal shots to the chest—fired when Lloyd was lying on the ground. Keys to a vehicle belonging to Hernandez were found on Lloyd. Lloyd had all his possessions, so robbery was not the motive. Five .45 caliber shells from a semi-automatic weapon were recovered.

A warrant was issued to recover surveillance footage from the 14 cameras in and around Hernandez's house, but police discovered that 6-8 hours of footage, from around the time of the murder, was missing. They were able to discover text messages from Hernandez to the victim and the two other suspects on the night of the murder.

According to a third party, Hernandez was angry with Lloyd for talking to a group of people at a nightclub on the previous Friday, a group that Hernandez apparently had beef with. The prosecutor said authorities have tape of Hernandez, with a firearm, saying "You can't trust anyone anymore" before driving to pick up Lloyd.

The group stopped at a gas station to pick up "blue cotton candy Bubblicious gum and Black & Mild cigars, which are used as rolling papers for marijuana."

When the three—minus Lloyd—returned to Hernandez's house, surveillance cameras showed someone carrying a gun into his house, down to the basement, and that's when cameras were shut off.

A shell casing was found in the rental car after Hernandez returned it.

Herandez was represented by Michael Fee and Jamie Sultan, the latter consistently ranked as one of the country's top trial lawyers. Fee called the evidence "circumstantial," and said the case is "not strong."

Hernandez was arrested at his home early this morning and transported to the North Attleboro police station to be booked. Shortly before 2 p.m., Hernandez was taken to the courthouse for his arraignment.

moron with a temper. dude is fvcked though. cell phone records pretty much directly tie him to lloyd. then you have AH's rental car keys in lloyd's pocket and him returning w/ a gun minutes later at his home. oh and a shell casing in the rental car matching the one lloyd was shot with for good measure. and that's just the surface of the damning evidence.

he's done. from tight end to bubba's wide receiver.

I would give all the money in my checking account to see the look on Bill Belichick's face when he first heard about this.

Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez, already facing charges in a murder last week in North Attleborough, is also being investigated in connection with a July 2012 double murder in Boston, according to two law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation.

Investigators believe a fight broke out at Cure, a club in the South End, between two men and a group that included Hernandez.

The two men, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, friends who grew up in Cape Verde, left the club with three other men in a BMW sedan in the early morning hours of July 16, 2012.

Abreu, who was driving, stopped at a traffic light on Shawmut Avenue, about to make a left onto Herald Street, when a silver or gray SUV with Rhode Island license plates pulled alongside the sedan. Someone from the SUV opened fire, killing Abreu, 29, and Furtado, 28.

The men who were with them survived the attack and the killings were left unsolved.

The officials said investigators now believe that Odin Lloyd, the man Hernandez is charged with killing in a North Attleborough industrial park June 17, may have had information about Hernandez’s role in the double slaying.

“The motive might have been that the victim knew [Hernandez] might have been involved,” one of the officials said.

The new revelations raised the specter that Hernandez might have been playing football games last season with the Patriots after he had participated in a double murder.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and firearms charges in Attleboro District Court in the killing of Lloyd, who was shot to death June 17 in an industrial park near Hernandez’s North Attleborough home. In other news today, a second man connected to the Lloyd murder was identified: Carlos Ortiz, a 27-year-old man who lives in Bristol, Conn., Hernandez’s hometown.

Police said the shooter in the July 2012 attack fired numerous times into the car, striking Abreu and Furtado, who was in the passenger seat.

One of the back-seat passengers was shot three times in the arm but survived. He was rushed to Tufts Medical Center and was treated and released. The other two occupants fled the car and were unharmed.

The two men’s deaths at the time were a mystery to their families and police, who said they had no ties to criminal activity.

Furtado was a tour guide on the idyllic island of Boa Vista in Cape Verde, where he led a mostly European clientele on jaunts along silky sand dunes, whispering palm trees, and world-class beaches, his family said. He arrived in Dorchester five months before he was killed to reconnect with his mother and sister, whom he had not seen in a decade.

Abreu grew up in Cape Verde, where he worked as a police officer there. He arrived in Dorchester around 2008 and became friends with Furtado. The two men were working together for a cleaning company based on Hamilton Street in Dorchester at the time of their deaths.

Authorities never found the SUV tied to the shooting.

Hernandez’s arraignment Wednesday in the killing of Lloyd came after a week of suspense in which media had camped out in front of Hernandez’s home and followed his car by helicopter, in a futile search for details from tight-lipped law enforcement officials. Residents in Massachusetts and beyond have been riveted by the story of a young, highly paid professional athlete who may have squandered a bright future.

Damn, Hernandez is a cop killer too?

That would be crazy if he were involved but reading the articles on it? Not much one can go on besides the dude who got murdered knew info of who did the shooting/was involved. But he's dead so no one knows besides people he may have told. Seems like all these incidents the folks involved arent saying much.

The guys who fled the car didnt say much about who they thought may have did the shooting. Yet Odin the murdered victim has info? Kind of lost unless Aaron or someone told Odin. The double murder was a mystery. Not because the victims were killed and nothing could be traced to them. But because it appears no one decided to talk.

just watched the bail hearing. he is so screwed with so much evidence against him between phone calls, texts, video, bubble gum, bullet matches, glock he was holding in video and how the victim was shot unique to glock supposedly....its unbelievable how quickly he went from one of the best future TE's in the NFL to jail for the rest of his life. Too bad theres no death penalty. what a horrible person. i also think its odd how the Pat's never looked at all of those gang tat's he has which show some serious gang activity. i mean one says Blood straight up lol....

wonder if the NFL or the Pats get any backlash for this, and how much of that $40 mill was guaranteed.

I always laugh at not snitching. People for a living do illegal things and then are expected to behave according to a high code of honor. Criminals snitch.

yeah someone is definitely snitching that is why all this shit is coming out about the other murder. there is no way the police would even look into him for that one unless someone was providing information.
