Default After one of the coldest winters recently,Americans views of "Global Warming" change?

"The fairly cold winter and slow arriving spring weather this year appears to have contributed to a slight decline in the number of Americans that think global warming is happening," said Chris Borick, director of the Muhlenberg Institute, which conducts the NSEE in partnership with the University of Michigan.

americans are a people of convenience, so yes... the idea that weather = climate should certainly help a lot of folks put off thinking for awhile.

when are they going to realize it's climate change, not global warming? we are going to be seeing extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

They backtracked and start calling it "climate change"

In the viking age Europe went through a far more dramatic warming period then anything that is going on currently.

And when you bring that up with these global warming d*ckriders, all they do is deflect

All of these people who supposedly think climate change is a hoax because of "one of the coldest winters recently" were very quick to forget that 2012 was the hottest year on record

Those records don't go back to the European warming period in the 900s, of back to any of the five major ice ages the earth has gone through.

Do the records acknowledge that the Earth is still coming out of an ice age that started 1.5 million years ago?

Perhaps that could account for the global temperature getting warmer?

Do these scientiests realize that the earth's climate has been dramatically changing naturally for billions of years?

Christ, I swear a lot of pro-global warming advocates don't even know basic middle school geology.

Christ, the last 200 years and idiot chicken littles crying that the world is going to end. 200 years is NOTHING in the history of the world. The earth has literally gone through MILLIONS of 200 year periods with more dramatic climate changes then we are going through now.

That said, stop chopping down the trees so quick.

Hilarious you say this when the truth is the exact opposite.

Is there a single climate change denier on ISH that has a college education? The loudest pro-climate change voices on ISH are the guys who were obviously paying attention during school, while the loudest deniers are comicbook school dropouts like yourself.

Do you actually know anything about geological history? Stop lashing out with juvenile insults at the messenger and attack the message if you see anything false in my last post.

Do you deny that we are currently coming out of an ice age that started 150 million years ago?

Do you deny that the European warming period was much more dramatic a climate change then the one that has been happening the past 200 years?

Do you deny that the earth has literally gone through MILLIONS of 200 year periods with more dramatic climate changes then we are going through now.

This climate change shit is only becoming a big thing because governments are starting to realize that it's something they'll be able to tax stupid people for. If anyone actually looked at geological history themselves objectively without any bias it is easy to see this whole global warming movement is a scare tactic invented by governments.

There is already a stigma around it-if you remotely question anything about the theory you are a brain dead red neck. If you blindly agree with what the scientists say, you are an intelligent forward thinking human being.

People just need to look at basic world history to see that it's a bullshit theory. Too bad most people just blindly and unquestioningly believe whatever they're told if it's on the news.

That's funny.....

just look back over 10 years ago.....look at all the Pro Global warming fools and thier stupid " scientific predictions".....compared to what really has happened.

Quote:
Perhaps the most inconvenient fact is the lack of global warming for well over 10 years now. This is known to the warming establishment, as one can see from the 2009 "Climategate" email of climate scientist Kevin Trenberth: "The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't." But the warming is only missing if one believes computer models where so-called feedbacks involving water vapor and clouds greatly amplify the small effect of CO2.

The lack of warming for more than a decade—indeed, the smaller-than-predicted warming over the 22 years since the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) began issuing projections—suggests that computer models have greatly exaggerated how much warming additional CO2 can cause. Faced with this embarrassment, those promoting alarm have shifted their drumbeat from warming to weather extremes, to enable anything unusual that happens in our chaotic climate to be ascribed to CO2.

The fact is that CO2 is not a pollutant. CO2 is a colorless and odorless gas, exhaled at high concentrations by each of us, and a key component of the biosphere's life cycle. Plants do so much better with more CO2 that greenhouse operators often increase the CO2 concentrations by factors of three or four to get better growth. This is no surprise since plants and animals evolved when CO2 concentrations were about 10 times larger than they are today. Better plant varieties, chemical fertilizers and agricultural management contributed to the great increase in agricultural yields of the past century, but part of the increase almost certainly came from additional CO2 in the atmosphere.

You come off as someone who has a very limited understanding of science. I have seen all of your tired old "arguments" destroyed countless times just during the climate discussions on this website alone. First of all, get it through your thick skull that nobody is denying that natural temperature cycles exist, they are simply saying that in addition to natural factors human activity is changing the environment.

Believe it or not, I do actually know something about geological history. I know that today the earths atmosphere is at ~400ppm CO2, and I know that the last time the atmosphere contained this concentration of CO2 was ~2.5 million years ago. I know that the last time the atmosphere contained 400ppm CO2, it resulted in massive warming and sea level rise.

You are absolutely 100% completely wrong about this. The last ice age started about 100,000 years ago, not 150 million years.

Quote:

Once again you are completely incorrect. The european warming period was much less dramatic than the climate change occuring in the past 200 years.

Like I said, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Do you deny that humans are influencing the climate today??

Welcome to the new age of humanity where opinions stand on equal footing alongside facts.

95% of climate scientists that are actively publishing climate papers (you know, people conducting actual research in the field) agree that humans are contributing to the current climate trends.

Michelle Bachmann agrees with you, climate change denier.

Someone who can't tell the difference between a cup of CO2 in a room vs. a room filled to the brim with CO2. Unbelievable the people we elect to public office.
