Default What's stopping Lebron from being the G.O.A.T?

Jordan current GOAT won his first ring at 28.

Lebron has already won TWO at 28.

There's nothing stopping him from winning 6 or more rings by the time his career ends.

Lets say he wins 8. Then what exactly is he inferior to compared to Jordan?
You cannot say he is not clutch anymore as his performance in game 7 finally puts that to rest. Jordan is a slighty better scorer and has the mental edge but Lebron can play 4 positions and is overall a better rebounder and passer.

Losing in the finals is also a stupid arguement as Jordan did not go to the finals everytime and lost many times in the playoffs too. If lebron is to win at least 4 more consecutive championships I believe GOAT talk would arise.

Also, Wilt is vastly overrated. Of course he had all the physical tools, I would assume his something like Britney Griner is to women's basketball now. But, consider he was on stacked teams and won only 2 rings.

Bill Russell is the same. During his era, there were only 10 teams. His 11 rings would mean something like 4 rings now. Also, the talent pool during the 50s/60s were weaker because the salary was meager and players had to work other jobs unlike the exorbitant salaries now which aspires every kid to play in the NBA.

First of all, Lebron is a forward who should be rebounding better than MJ, but even then Lebron is just a shade better! And rebounding is a scrub stat! !

Second of all, Lebron is not a better passer than MJ, he is just a more willing passer than MJ! !

Third of all, MJ is a much, much more prolific scorer than Lebron! !

Fourth, MJ was a better on ball defender than Lebron. In terms of help defense Lebron may be slightly better, but MJ is still the better overall defender! !

Check all of MJ's overall stats, especially in the finals. They are all vastly superior to Lebron's! !

MJ's six final performances are otherworldly compared to Lebron, who has had one good final's performance, one average one, and two horrible ones! !MJ's worst finals is better than Lebron's worst! !

MJ also has more accolades than Lebron! !

MJ has Lebron beat in terms of stats, impact on the game in a majority of aspects of the game, in finals performance, and accolades! !

So unless Lebron suddenly starts performing at a higher level (extremely unlikely, this is probably close to his peak) and starts racking up some more rings, FMVPs, and MVPs, Lebron's got no shot at MJ! !

So he does have a shot at GOAT, the best shot of all current players, but its still highly unlikely! !

At this point, only himself. As long as the Heat remain contenders (through draft, sign and trades... whatever), he'll have a legit shot.

Dude's got a WAYS to go though.

He's a great player, will accumulate one of the greatest resumes we've ever seen, maybe ends up somewhere in the top 3 of total MVPs and rings crowd. But what keeps MJ above him is that MJ was the greater clutch scorer. James is improving in this area but right now that's still a major difference.

The likeability that Jordan had, which makes no sense cause Jordan was a far away bigger asshole than Lebron was

Stuff of genius there...So, the talent pool was weak, the league was smaller, Wilt had all the physical tools and dominated, he played on stacked teams, yet, he only won 2 titles... Something doesn't quite add up, don't you think?
And, no, neither can we credit Russell with Wilt's failure to win more titles, because...well, he never explained why, but he'd probably mention Russell playing on even more stacked teams (weak talent pool... ), which, of course, wouldn't in turn be enough of an excuse for Wilt, etc...

He just needs to be a better scorer vs good defenses. That's basically it. If he was as good as Kobe at just that single thing. He'd as an overall player not only be better than Kobe, but be better than Jordan. But he hasn't thus far and I don't think he ever will.

You have too wonder if he will remain inconsistent in the finals. There may be a team that does not choke up a final like spurs or have a sabotaging player like Manu. Wade's healthy is a question mark and whether the Heat can keep improving the roster every year.

A) He'll need his jump shot to keep improving

B) His post game needs to improve a little bit more.

C) His man to man defense can improve against SF's who are good jump shooters (against average jump shooters he seems to thrive...he even does great against super quick PG's who aren't great jump shooters)

I think all of the above can be done in 1-2 years with off-season practice.

The problem is that he may lose athleticism, so that might off-set the above improvements.

Only time will tell if his skills improve faster than his athleticism declines. And it will be entertaining as sh*t to see which happens first. I can't wait .
