An hour later, the Nets were at Staples once more, shooting around, doing pre game warm ups. Vince Carter was at halfcourt chatting with Kobe Bryant. Zamaj put up a three. Money. He had been working hard on his perimeter game. It was February 7th and the all star weekend was nearing. Zamaj couldn't wait to get in the rookie challenge and prove to Vince that he could ball. Kobe tipped Vince on the shoulder and pointed at Zamaj. Carter bent over laughing. Frustrated, Zamaj gripped the ball and took it to the hole. He saw Marcus staring at him. He rose up and threw down a windmill. As he came back down to earth, he looked towards the two superstars. They didn't notice, both were being interviewed. The game began, and Zamaj was on the bench. He figured he should be. Second quarter came. Zamaj still hadn't played. He was worried. Third quarter came and went. Zamaj had not entered the game. Finally, Coach put him at the start of the 4th quarter. The Nets losing horribly to the camps, 107-81, Carter came out for Zamaj. Garbage time. As he stepped on the court, he regretted his showboat windmill dunk. Marcus brought it up and passed to Zamaj. Z took his man, Maurice Evans, in the post and shot a turnaround fader. Swish. Next time down the court, he caught the ball at three and got in triple threat. Faked a drive and shot the three. It went in like water. He went on to score 28 points. And managed to make the final score respectable. 128-124. A huge run by the Nets. Kobe Bryant had 44. Typical. After the game, Kobe Bryant put his hand on Zamaj's shoulder. He whispered one word which would give Zamaj more confidence than anything anyone has ever said to him. "Nice."
Good story bro. One thing thought, you should watch your sentence structuring a bit more, some of them are really badly put together. Enjoying reading your story, keep up the good work.
The Nets had reached the all star break and were hyped. Marcus was headed to the all star game as a reserve. Zamaj was starting the rookie challenge. The festivities had been changed and this was the first year the changes would be initiated. Instead of the skills challenge, shooting stars, and slam dunk contest, a new one on one basketball tournament would be there on all star saturday night instead. The players in the tournament were:
PG Gilbert Arenas
vs
PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Kobe Bryant
vs
SG: Michael Redd
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
vs
PF: Chris Bosh
SG: Tracy Mcgrady
vs
SF: Carmelo Anthony
SG: Dwayne Wade
vs
SG: Andre Igoudala
SF: Lebron James
vs
SF: Kevin Durant
Zamaj was hyped up for the weekend and couldn't wait. Pretty soon, he was in the locker room lacing up his nikes across from star point guard Jeffrey Jordan who was sitting alone with his serious face on. Zamaj had never seen the kid smile. He got up and shook his head. Rubbed his hands and stepped on the court. Then he saw Ice. They both locked eyes. Something was wrong between them. Zamaj just couldn't put his finger on it. They shot around until the game. Rookies won the tip. Its game time. Zamaj didn't know...the rookie game would forever change once they walked off the court.
