He should just put his first name at the back of the jersey.

GAY on my back?
Wouldn't wearing an Antoine Walker jersey be pretty much the same?
Actually, I don't think it would be that bad, then again there was one guy by the name of Gregor Fvcka (just replace the V with a U and thats how his name is spelt) who almost made it into the NBA a few years back.
If he had a jersey, I'd buy it in a second.

He should just add an 'E' at the end of his name like Marvin Gaye did.

At least his last name isn't 'homosexual'...
That said, if I really liked him as a player I'd buy his jersey. I know that wearing it, it be the butt end of more than a few jokes, though...

Re:
well i wouldn't wear it, but I'd have no problem supportin the young athlete if he were succeeding and cheering his name in public.

This is the first Rudy Gay joke that actually made me chuckle a bit.

his jersey sales will be terrible, but why change your name? Its not like anybody will forget his name was Gay, or adding an 'E' to the end will make the hecklers any quieter.

I bet you the next time they have a gay pride parade everyone will be wearing his jersey. It will be great for his sales and the ******s
