i actually heard that its just there for psychological reasons (ie, makes people think they are making the lights change) but doesnt do anything. i cant find out where i heard that though.

it just bugs me when im in a car and someone is hitting that button 1000 times.

I doubt it. I mean apparently city lights are all timed and stuff to make traffic go smoothly. So I doubt they'd let one of the lights get affected because some random dude wants to walk across the street.

Maybe it just works at like 3 AM or something when there is less traffic.

Sometimes pushing the button allows the doors to close.

I think it actually works though. I'm not talking about hitting it continuously, but hitting it and then maybe 15 seconds later, hit it again.

Anyways, I always hit buttons twice in one sequence and then wait.

It's like the crosswalk thing. Once is enough. I like it when you are at a crosswalk already and people come up and press it... like they doubt if you pressed it.

I always press on close the doors button. And then sometimes I check my phone even tho most elevators get no reception.

Yeah, there should already be a "close door" button available.
