Default Kurt Rambis Possibly Coming Back

It looks like he might be one of the assistants this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers are “close” to hiring Kurt Rambis for their coaching staff, a source with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday…

Rambis has been seen in Las Vegas, spending time watching summer league games alongside Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni and his brother, Dan.

good job...I think the lakers are being smart....

rambis will work with D'Toni and implement some of the triangle stuff along with D'toni's stuff....

this way if they fire D'Toni( i think they most probably will) they dont have to deal with the totally new system all together

I kind of viewed it that way too. Not necessarily the system, but it would at least give them an interim head coach they are already familiar with.

Wha......would I rather die by fire or by falling off a cliff......is that what you're asking me?

Nobody seems to remember how epic a failure Rambis was as Lakers head coach, he really didn't have the slightest clue on any coaching decision. Rodman had to constantly tell him what to do.....like call timeouts at the end of games and such. It was this interaction and frustration that led to Rodman not being on the Lakers when Phil came in......Phil wanted him back but Jerry said no.
Rambis may have improved some of those issues......maybe, but lacks the personal skills in dealing with players that are required in the NBA.
The guy had MAJOR problems with his players in Minny, including Kevin Love, he benched him on a regular basis. Rambis as an assistant and no higher is ok.

Rambis is a good assistant. He's not the best head coach. Probably not even a good head coach. But as an assistant, he sure made Phil look like a God from time to time. He was the one who constructed the defensive schemes that fell in line with the laker offense.

This will be interesting if it happens because Rambis has been a frequent D'Antoni critic. I wonder what the motive behind this move is.

Rambis can't say the forecast is necessarily brighter for the season ahead, at least until Bryant's status becomes clear. Pau Gasol underwent knee procedures over the offseason as well and Steve Nash is still trying to get back to 100% after hamstring, hip and back problems.

"There's a lot of ifs to this season. Pau's got issues he's got to deal with. Nash has got issues he's got to deal with. Kobe, obviously they're still not going to be able to really assess where he's at and get any sort of predictor about when he could possibly come back until the end of this month," said Rambis. "It's going to interesting to see what his progress is. Every indication that I have, everything looks great will him, but they still won't know until the end of this month."

Rambis is more than capable of being the head honcho for the Lakers one day yep you heard it here first and I'll stand by it. Furthermore if Brian Shaw can interview for HC jobs so can my boy Kurt. Superman will rise to the occasion and be the zenmaster of yesteryear in implementing the Lakers "D" in the new era fcuk this Antoni B.S. non effective weak ass system !
