Default What was the difference between Kobe last year and 2009?

2013: 27.3 PPG 5.6 RPG 6.0 APG 57.0 TS% 46.3 FG%

2009: 26.8 PPG 5.2 RPG 4.9 APG 56.1 TS% 46.7 FG%

people say hes out of his prime, but it looks to be the exact same numbers.

Offensively not much at all. His defense is worse though.

The difference is that he doesn't have the most stacked cast in the league anymore.

-All of the youthful LA role players have been replaced by over the hill veterans.

-Instead of the GOAT coach Phil Jackson, they have D'Antoni one of the worst in the league.

-It is still pathetic that Kobe could only win 45 games with Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol on his team.

Kobe himself is almost the same player(worse defensively). He just doesn't have a great cast in a weak league(who the *** was LAs top competition during those years? SA when they were losing to 8 seeds?). A better league an a weaker team means less team success which means less sportscenter hype.

Kobes entire career is hyped from "winning". His actual impact on games isn't that high at all(compared to other great players). Thats all he had.

You shouldn't be talking about a player having the most stacked team in the league.

The Lakers were never stacked. I know you just started watching basketball in 2010 but come on. AT least get your facts straight before posting. Next season's Lakers is probably the most stacked team they've had in a whiiiile.

He was worse defensively and struggled more with turnovers, other than that he was just as good. Kobe last season (individually) was amazing to me tho, how do you have one of your best scoring seasons in your 17th season? He also had a career high in assists.

The difference was 09 Kobe was blatantly coasting during the regular season and still put up those numbers. While 13 Kobe was going hard all season.

09 Kobe was still capable of putting up 32+/6+/5-6/2 type of numbers with 15-20 40+ pt games and multiple 50+ pt games if he was on a team that needed it. He was still putting up 60+ pt games that season. And he was a much better defender in 2009. Not even close. 09 Kobe would be better than anybody in the league today outside of LBJ and maybe Durant. 13 Kobe is "merely" top 10.

HOLY SHIT you are another kobe tard?

The Lakers were the most stacked team in the NBA in 2008, 2009, and 2010 after the gasol for kwame brown trade.

Period.

Kobe's just always been overrated

2009 Kobe was no doubt the undisputed and by far the best player in the league

2013 Kobe was arguably the best player in the league (LeBron has a small case tho)

Both Kobe were already out of his prime.. Imagine Prime Kobe playing in today's league.. That would be unfair..

This n!gga talkin' about competition when the best player Bronzy had to go against this year was Paul George.

The best player they had to face throughout the first two rounds was Nate Robinson.

2009 Kobe was considerably better defensively. No question about that, but he was also noticeably more athletic and a significantly better shooter as far as range. His outside shot has suffered due to injuries in recent years. He got his own offense easier in '09.

2009 Kobe was pretty much coasting in regular season, thus his stats deflated to some extent. 2013 Kobe was playing with everything he got and eventually injury caught up to him due to fatigue. The stats may look similar, but it really aint that comparable.
