Default Re: ESPN-Lakers to finish 12th in West

I can see this team making at least the 8th seed if Kobe, Pau & Nash are all healthy. If not, they'll definitely miss the POs.

You also have to look at it in a different light. Last year, the Lakers barely made the POs. The Utah Jazz almost took the Lakers' spot, & it was just mere luck for LAL to get the 7th seed pass HOU. Now there are several teams that are looking good in the West. You've got OKC, Clips & Spurs as the mainstays. Add in an improved HOU, GSW, SAC & NOH. DEN might still manage making noise with Ty Lawson and Gallo playing together. Portland will have Damian and Aldridge carried over with another year of experience under their belts, and the Wolves might manage to make noise if KLove can keep healthy. That's 10 teams already. Lakers will have to work hard to make the POs.
The West is pretty wide open as of right now. It's difficult to gauge how specific teams will mesh. Maybe Houston will suck & the Hornets will be great. Who knows? Hopefully the Lakers make some changes ASAP if it's obvious from the getgo that the roster isn't working.

Edit: Let's not forget the Mavs are looking much better than last season. Maybe Dirk + Monta will work beautifully. Or maybe it won't. I'm excited for next season. Things are definitely looking to be entertaining.

Unfortunately for us it doesn't work that way. If Jeanie was a man she would've been given control of the team without any question.
Jerry was a great man but he had no respect for women and didn't think a woman should be running a male dominated business.....this is just the thinking of the era he was raised in.

Jimmy was always a screw off who was only interested in partying with Jerry's money, he never sat down and learned the game or business. He did ok as a horse stable owner with Jerry's money but pissed the whole thing away.

Jeanie was the opposite, she was committed to sports management even before Jerry bought the Lakers.....YES, well before 1979, long before she graduated Palisades High. She has been dedicated to the game and to the business the entire time.

Anyone who knows these people would tell you there is a night and day difference between Jeanie and Jimmy's capabilities in every aspect of running the team.

To think that Jerry Buss is flawless is ridiculous, were he alive today he would tell you that he made a ton of mistakes. Unfortunately that includes the one he left us with.

As controversial as people might find this, I agree in the sense that this was probably Jerry's way of thinking. I can definitely see it.

But I think we're not giving Jim credit at all when he deserves some. He brought good players here. Not so much good coaches. But didn't the Magic run lakers have to go through problems first before finally finding the right one?
