Well, that escalated quickly. Puerto Rico on a big run and now it's turned into a blowout.

Sorry if I butcher the spelling, but I'm just spelling it how it sounds when the announcer says his name.

But who this Aryuso guy for Puerto Rico? He's looked pretty good.

Ayuso is a chucker but can be a prolific scorer when he gets going. He's can make it rain from behind the arc. He was on the Puerto Rico team that beat the USA in the Olympics back in 04.

I remember he was in training camp with a few NBA teams way back in the day before getting cut.

He was in the NBA for a couple years too. Wasn't just camp fodder.

That's Larry Ayuso from the Bronx. Never been on an NBA team but played in some training camps as well as some Euroleague teams.

After Carlos arroyo, Ayuso along with Eddie Casiano were the main players who gave Team USA it's worst lost ever in the 2004 Olympics

The Canadian NBA only fans are even more psychotic than the American NBA only fans.

Endless nonsense trash talking for a long time about how Canada has the 2nd best basketball system, 2nd best pool of talent, will be the winning silver medals at the next tournaments....blah, blah, blah.

Unbelievable. They would barely even be a top 20 team in Europe.

He tried the Greek League a couple times and got cut both times. Once he didn't make it past training camp.

He's a SF that can absolutely light it up from long range, but his defense is so awful that it's really hard for a serious team or coach to utilize him a lot.

Sort of the same problem a guy like Gecevicius has. He can do well in a team where the coach isn't emphasizing defense. Puerto Rico's coach is defensive minded, but he has no choice but to use Ayuso a lot. Since he can shoot and since no one on that team except Santiago and Balkmna plays any defense. Plus he fits perfectly into their street ball style offense, even though their coach is a European style guy.

Their coach is pretty much at the mercy of how street ball Puerto Rico is with guys like Barea and Arroyo.

Man, Venezuela looks awful...

They're the host country and lost to Mexico in the opener and barely got by Paraguay last night. It's a testament to how good Grievis Vasquez is that he was able to make this team look decent at the Olympic qualifying tournament. They're also missing one of their main big men in Greg Echenique who just signed in the Bundesliga.

Argentina got absolutely lit up by the Dominicans. Luis Scola was locked up (went 4-18) by Jack Michael Martinez, a guy who I'm shocked never played in the NBA or Euroleague. James Feildeine played a great game recent Kentucky alum Eloy Vargas had 8 points/11 rebounds.

Canada just fell apart in the fourth quarter. They were slow to close out shooters and couldn't stay in front of Barea and Arroyo all game. Balkman had another big game. Nicholson and Thompson carried Canada as much as they could but they hardly saw the ball in the fourth.

Jamaica lost in the final seconds as former NBA-er Esteban Batista tipped it in to win it for Uruguay. He had 22 points/14 rebounds. Really awful game from Jamaica.

He played at least 8 games in Euroleague

Who knows if he was cut or injured but he didn't finish the season.

Most of the Canadian fans have said in a few years Canada will be a top team but we'll see.

I don't know how American fans can be "psychotic" considering the USA has won gold in the last World Championships and the past two Olympics!

The real psychotic ones are the Greek fans who claim that Greece is going to challenge the US and then Greece gets eliminated by Nigeria in a qualifying tournament, finishes 11th in the last World Championships and 6th in the last Eurobasket.
