Modern players are just better at the game, even in the 90's you had a lot of un athletic white guys running around but now it's much more streamlined. The best now, is the best ever

You realize this guy led the NBA in rebounding 2 years ago:

The game has changed more than the players over the last 50 years.

Like how old school? Like 1960's? yea. 1970's? Some. 1980's and 90's? No. Almost all the players who were good then have skills that translate.

Dat body! Nate Thurmond has nothing on that. You can see all the modern advances - weight training, nutrition, PEDs. He'd kill prime Shaq on the boards.

Athleticism automatically means great at basketball? Gerald Green > Larry Bird? White players are less athletic, yes.

But they are smarter, tougher, and generally more skilled ... which provide better niche roles on complete teams. Countless athletes who are versatile with little to no skill, who also happen to be dumb as a rock make for shitty ball players and redundant players on teams.

Yeah, 18.7% of players were international during the 2012-2013 season. Highest since 2005-2006, when it was 19%.

like i'm trying to say in the old timers allstar game thread

people shouldnt confuse "modern day big vs old school big" and "modern day wing vs old school wing"

wilt/russell can play in todays nba

cousy/hondo cannot play in todays nba

shaq would do well in the 60's. about as good as wilt

however kobe and jordan would triple the production of any guard from that era

bigs have transferable skills/athleticism/bodies

the little guys didnt
