Default Fifty Shades of Grey

Slim chance, but anybody here read any of these books or interested in the upcoming film? I haven't and am not.

I am just now finding out that Charlie Hunnam got the role of Christian Grey a few days ago... almost all the ladies on-line were clamoring for Ian Somerhalder to get it.

I'm surprised the director (Sam Taylor-Johnson) didn't cast her husband (Aaron Johnson) for the role. He is probably a bit too young for it though.

Here's a short reading if you don't know the book.

Truthfully, I have never read any of these books. I just remember when they were getting so much hype and everyone was talking about them and possible casting choices for the roles.

If I cared I would have known when the news broke, but I don't follow the author on Twitter.

I wont hold it against you for wanting to see the film, but dont act like your not interested and then argue that so and so would be better as the lead

Naw, it's all good if you wanna hold it against me for wanting to see the film. If I did want to see it I would freely admit it.

I have only a cursory understanding of who the characters are and who a lot of the book's fangirls wanted Christian to be. Casting processes, in general, pique my interest.

Exactly.

"Hey has anyone read 50 Shades of Grey or excited about the movie? I mean, I haven't read it nor am I excited about it, but I just made a thread about the book and movie on a basketball message board and wanted to see if any of you losers were excited. I'm not gay. Really, I'm not gay."

Yep. Hard to fathom, but that's the truth.

The film will probably end up appealing to men somehow though. Charlie Hunnam could attract some SoA fans, and the chick who got cast as Anastasia has a pretty popular A$$ (Stanford underwear from 'The Social Network').

I read the wikipedia summary and it is quite disturbing.

It's pretty much about bondage and male dominance.

Why do you act like you don't care when you know more then anybody else on the board about it and even made a thread dedicated to 50 shades of gray?

Clearly you care, and you care more then most.

What's disturbing about either of those things?

Knowing more than most doesn't equate to caring more than most.

It was constantly referenced on late night talk shows and all the chicks on my Facebook were talking about it when it got popular. It was a pop cultural phenomenon of sorts.

If I were interested in this movie, I would have no problem admitting it. Just like I have no problem admitting to you now that I love the show 'Sex & the City' and 'Desperate Housewives' through its first 3 seasons.
