I assume if he get better and better at that he will be given a chance at that RB position? And that RB position is far more involved than the punt returner obviously yeah?
Only if he is starting RB or backup RB.
If he is 3rd or 4th string RB, then he would get more action as a punt returner... you can expect to return several punts in any game, and you will occasionally see punt return touchdowns. Barring injury, I wouldn't expect a 3rd/4th string RB to score any points.
Hopefully he is punt returner, and also gets a shot at backup RB, perhaps it could turn into a rotation "RBBC" (running back by committe). These days when there are two RBs with quite different skill sets, the coach will just alternate them frequently. Hayne could get in this role but it's a long shot at this point.
It really sucks we've lost Gore, and while Hyde is alright, I never saw anything special in him. It's way to early to say for sure but Hayne could be starting RB caliber if he keeps doing what he's doing.
