Warriors preseason is underway
Harrison Barnes got the start over Klay Thompson in the Warriors’ 104-95 exhibition-opening loss against the Lakers on Saturday night, but head coach Mark Jackson reiterated the dangers of reading too much into his preseason decision.
No matter how the fluid lineup decisions remain, Thompson seemed to play with a little added fire. He offered sequences of tenacious full-court defense and paced the Warriors with 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting after watching Barnes start alongside power forward David Lee and center Andrew Bogut and with the backcourt of Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala.
Thompson shadowed Lakers guards all over the floor and then showed signs of an expanded offensive game. The third-year shooting guard exploited his height advantage in the post and threw down a two-handed dunk in traffic and then added his usual array of jumpers.
