Thats...48 plays. I have no doubt ill forget by like...day 4. But until then...
I'll start with a fairly absurd and possibly unique defensive play. If anyone else did it I dont remember off the top. Offense tends to get the love in talk of beautiful plays but ive always been a defense lover so I felt id start on that end....
Robert Horry blocks 2 shots and draws a charge in 5 seconds:
Id love to see in a film room with Larry Brown, Hubie, and Bill Walton and trade glowing praise for that play. Lot of "What you love is..." and "The right way..." talk till 14 year olds change the channel.
That play is defensive porn.
Magic Johnson with one of the quickest and tightest spin moves I can imagine a human his size pulling off
By tightness I mean...look at the space he had. 3 people running with him 2 of them defenders. He couldnt let that get loose. The quick hand change into the lefty dunk....
Magic had waaaaaaay more scoring talent and highlights than he gets credit for. Id love to peek into a world where Magic decided to score more than pass. Check his 1987 game logs:
Kareem was banged up at one point and Magic was asked to score a bit more. Put up 26 a game over like 3 months.
Magic on a team that needed that out of him would have been...well I wont say fun to watch as if he wasnt to begin with...but you know what I mean.
This last one im not sure is even a...highlight. Its just John Stockton being perfect as he often was...
Its often said someone made a pass through or went through an entire team...well...Stockton literally passed it between all 5 members of the Houston Rockets here:
As I said not exactly a ....highlight...and nobody seemed that blown away at the time...but thats just a beaufitul play. Greatest ever at putting the ball exactly where you need it to score. You so rarely saw guys have to reach or adjust to a Stockton pass. Oddly enough the one he set the assist record on...Karl had to reel it in...but his ratio of juuuuuuuuust right passes is probably the best ive ever seen.
Anyone can get you the ball....putting it exactly where you need to shoot or lay it up...thats different. Thats Stockton, Mark Jackson, Paul, Nash, and Isiah.
That combo of precision...toughness...scoring if he had to. You dont love John Stocktons game(dirty or not) we arent compatible as fans.
