Are you aware the 49ers had an elite defense in those years, their front 7 was the best in the NFL and they had Gore in the backfield.

Alex Smith got that team to an NFC championship game for God sakes.

Wait, aren't most teams that make the championship games have elite defenses? Sehawks? Patriots? Ravens? Giants? Packers? Steelers

Smh most of these teams where stacked both sides, it does not take away from the QB.

And Alex Smith isn't even a bad QB. Terrible argument

Pats had a below average defense when they played the Giants in the super bowl the 2nd time.

Packers last year had an average defense. #13 in points. #15 in yards.

2012 Ravens had the #17 yardage defense in the league

The Broncos made the super bowl a couple of years ago with the #22 defense in the NFL.

Sit down clown.

Lmao Brady won a SB last year with an elite defense
So did Rodgers
So did Flacco
So did Russell
So did Ben
So did Eli
and the 9ers only lost by one score, Broncos got blown out

Sit down clown

Edit: yardage defense? Really? The Ravens where top 5 on defense after that terrible start of the year. Do some better research

You just said most teams that make championship games have elite defenses and I just proved you wrong. Nice try trying to change the topic.

Most teams. Last year both Pats and Seahawks had elite defenses, the year before that? 9ers and Seahawks. Packers, Steelers,Giants.I could keep going on if I really wanted too. your argument is really stupid

Pats had a good defense, but elite? No way in hell. Are you really going to compare that defense to the 49ers defense?

49ers Defense

2011 - #2
2012 - #2
2013 - #3

The Pats last year were #8 I think, and they weren't even top 10 in yardage defense.
