pippen has 6 rings, not 7, his pathetic play was a big reason the lakers beat us in 99, and no, he wasnt there when cassell was.

Pippen was traded to the Rockets in January of '99 if I remember correctly.

i think it was a sign and trade in the off-season actually (not sure what chicago got back). 99 was the lockout year, so it may have been as late as january come to think of it!

Charles Barkley isn't talking out of his @ss for once? This has been a weird week in the L. Reminds me of MAD magazine snappy answers to stupid questions. Pip IS done, you don't get younger with time, you get older. The only types of players who can play into their 40's are role playing big men who don't need great physical skills (other than height) and haven't spent their legs playing heavy minutes and throwing their body around on the court all the time. Pip does not fit this description. Based on what I have read on Pippen, he sounds like an arrogant @sshole who, rather than be happy with his rings and status, is GREEDY for more. I for one hope hew comes back and makes a fool out of himself and gets dunked on by some no name young player.

I'm a huge fan of Pippen, but like most I have to be a little sceptical. Anytime you're going to attempt a come-back at 40+ years, it's going to be very tough. What he's got going for him is the fact that he's at least not expecting to go out and play 40MPG that some might do, so at least he has got somewhat realistic thoughts about the potential comeback, coming off the bench not playing more than 12-15 minutes. Apparently he was at an all time low 5% bodyfat which sounds good, but obviously he won't be able to use his athleticism half as much as in his prime, and it's doubtful if he'll actually be able to contribute much on the offensive end. It's also doubtful if he'll be able to really contribute on the defensive end now.

If he can come back as a player/assistant coach/whatever, I'll be happy to just see him around, and I do hope that whatever he does, he doesn't disappoint us.
