Uhh as someone in living in New Orleans I can tell you that if you're not a complete retard nothing will happen. Everyone knows the bad parts of town and stays away from them late at night, plain and simple. Where all the all-star stuff will be, downtown, at the Arena, and the convention center, all that **** is safe and with all the people there nothing will happen. I think it's pretty ignorant for T-Mac to say what he did.

Your stupid to think nothing will happen if a whole bunch NBA players go to NO. Tmac is not ignorant, he lives in Houston and we know all about New Orleans. They raised our crime rate from the moment they got here.

The problem wasn't really NBA players anyways. It was more all the people who came for the all star weekend who wanted to act like jackasses, particularly rappers and their posses. Dudes running around the MGM Grand had white people so scared they were literally running out and checking into the hotel accross the street.

Its just a definate that with all those NBA players, with some of the fools in NO, someone would at least attempt some crap at an event or party.

A popular thing over there is for someone to come up and ask for the time or say something about your shoes, and when you look back up.... Gun in your face.

I actually know a few people that happened to in NO.

This should cause an interesting and heated debate.

Tmac isn't ignorant, N.O. castoffs have made Houston's crime rate go through the roof. T-mac plays in Houston, you think he doesn't know the situation there. Houston gave a hand out and its been biting them in the ass ever since. The reason why theres so much crime there, is becasue NO had a crappy (crooked) police force BEFORE the storm, and now the police force jet.

Players are also targets, anybody that has money is, so they are extra paraniod about situations like this.

Houston got screwed, because now alot of the thugs, don't want to go back home, and just drain the cities resources.

You guys are making no sense. So what you're basically saying is that in New Orleans, just like in any other city, there is a possibility that there could be some violence??? Well no ****, that's every single big city in the U.S. Anything can happen anywhere obviously. New Orleans has a higher crime rate, yes, but that doesn't mean that it's a warzone out here and everybody gets shot daily. If you go to the ghetto, Hollygrove, valence, **** by Freret (I live uptown so that's the ghettos I know) obviously something bad will happen.

But, like I said before, the areas that all the players will frequent during all-star weekend, mostly downtown and french quarter and a few uptown, are safe. There are so many people usually that nothing happens.

And yes, N.O.'s people going to Houston made their crime rate go through the roof, but hey guess what. THEY'RE IN HOUSTON NOW. Not New Orleans.

So to say that a possibility exists of something bad happening if the All-Star weekend is in New Orleans, well yes there is a possibility. But that possibility would exist anywhere else as well (unless we had it in Utah).

This is like TMac looking forward to the 2nd round of the playoffs. He has to MAKE the all-star team next year before he can consider skipping it.

That's what I was thinking, even though he'd likely make it.

Unless T-Mac decides to retire, he will make the All-Star team. Even if he's injured, he will start bcause the fans will vote for him.

You know nothing of the situation, all Houston fans are on the same page. Why is that? Well bc we see what they are doing to our city first hand and not all of them are here. Plenty of them have went back so you don't what your talking about. Our schools were filled with violence from these kids starting trouble with people from here. We had to hire more cops to control them bc of all the gang shootings. These people who once fought each other from different sides of the city end up living next to each other bc of Katrina and still choose to fight. Tmac lives Houston, he is not ignorant on the situation, we know better than anyone.

Don't know why Mac had to open his mouth, say something stupid and kick a city while they are down like this. Athletes (and everyone else) should think more before they open their mouths. What positives can be accomplished from T-Mac's comments?
